Exactly what I was thinking.. But realistically you couldn't really say no that them could you? That being said, wouldn't it be better to play for a team where you get lots of opportunities and a chance to score regularly and show your worth?
He hasn’t even really had lots of opportunities at Giresunspor, he only has 68 league minutes, and 90 in the cup against a third tier side. He scored a couple in that game but at Besiktas they’ll want you to do that in the Champions League, not Turkish third tier. If he’s good enough to be at that level then he can show that at his current team and then it’ll happen in due course, no point going for even less first team opportunities.
91st min sub in a 1-0 loss at Adana Demirspor (8th). Full game Aziz Behich.
Giresunspor (13th), with a very international squad. Starting 11 - 2 guys Mali, 2 guys Senegal, 2 Brazilians, 2 Turks, a Colombian, a Russian and an Aussie.
English/French probably as widely spoken in dressing room as Turkish.
Not in match day squad as Giresunspor (16th) lose 1-3 to Alanyaspor (3rd). 3rd goal conceded at 97 mins. Aziz Behich full game.
Giresunspor 2 points above the relegation zone (spots 17th-20th), and 4 points ahead of Tyler Boyd's Rizespor (18th). Boyd's played 17 games, but still yet to score this season.
Turkish giants Galatasaray (15th) only 1 point ahead of Giresunspor.
Saw on another forum that he walked out on training and didn't turn up for game day.
Might be agitating for a potential move, as mentioned earlier in this thread. Either that or doesn't feel like he's getting the opportunities he should be 🤔🤷♂️
still walking out on training isnt exactly the look you want to go for if you are wanting to move to a bigger club.
Yeah, unless the club was in breach of contract - Turkish clubs are not known to be consistent payers for instance.
Completely agree on the dick move bit as mentioned above. That may give potential suitors a bit of a red flag as well.
See Turkey is going through a bit of a financial crisis at the moment too, on top of everything else going on at the moment. Inflation mid 30% and expected to touch 40% in the coming months. I'm no economist, but perhaps that has something to do with it as well?

Well Erdoğan seems no economist either. He's refusing to raise interest rates, when it's one obvious tool to combat rampant inflation. Think he's sacked a number of finance or deputy finance ministers who he's disagreed with.
But no matter what walking out of training ain't a good look. Probably good he's gone away to UAE for a week, to hopefully clear his head. I'm sure some of the AWs coaching staff and senior players will be giving him some sage advice.
Maybe he has a Jan transfer move lined up already? Most European leagues the window finishes Jan 31st.
Not in match day squad in a 1-0 loss at Konyaspor (2nd). Aziz Behich 84 mins.
Any more Reddit rumours for Champness?
I guess he could also be one of the guys who got Covid in the UAE, but yes has missed the last 2 match day squads for Giresunspor (16th, 1 spot above drop zone) now. He wasn't listed in today's sick bay list of absentees on Soccerway.
Subbed on at 73rd min in a 2-1 loss at Kayserispor (5th). Score 2-0 when he came on.
Good to see him back. Giresunspor (17th) fall into the drop zone though, 1 point from safety.
They play Göztepe (16th) next week & then Boyd's Rizespor (18th). So some big games coming up with 12 rounds left.
Say there is a zero chance Giresunspor will release Champness prior March FIFA window starting. Hopefully Hay can get Rojas & Barba for the first 2 pool games.
A couple of vital wins for Giresunspor last 2 weeks, and they are now 5 pts above the drop zone. They host Gaziantep FK (11th, 36 pts) in what seems a winnable game next.
Win that and they may agree to release Champness early for AWs?? Especially since lately he ain't getting any minutes.
Giresunspor stay 16th, but are now a handy 6 points above the relegation zone, and they have won their last 3 matches. Aziz Behich full game.
Champness will have a shorter trip than most to Qatar. And will be fresh, barely playing of late. His pace & dribbling will hopefully trouble the Island teams.
AWs naming said he was to be in Qatar for the whole tourney, so he will miss Giresunspor's game this weekend. But he's barely played for his club in 2022 (2 sub appearances), so seems a fringe player there now for the moment.
Giresunspor (16th) sans Champness get thumped 4-1 at Antalyaspor (10th). Full game Aziz Behich.
Giresunspor are 6 pts above the drop zone with 8 rounds left.
Elsewhere Tyler Boyd scored his first goal for Rizespor (19th) against Galatasaray back in Feb. Rizespor had a 3-2 win today, but are 9 pts behind Giresunspor and safety.
I was just looking at his page on Transfermarkt, and apparently as of a couple days ago he has left Giresunspor.
Looking it up, it seems according to local sources he mutually terminated his contract, and I did see one suggestion it was over unpaid wages, but others were questioning his professionalism, especially given he left football to pursue rapping previously.
Not the easiest time to be a free agent, he was contracted during the window so not sure if A League teams could contract him. If not, then his chances of playing vs Costa Rica have just plummeted if he will be Unattached FC.
💥 Champness, sözleşmesini tek taraflı olarak feshetti.
