Would that not just be simple enough to put in the statement though? Usually if a player has been recalled, it's just that? Seems odd.

He has barely featured & was played up front in the FFA cup. I wouldn't be surprised if left to take up a deal with another club. Adelaide is losing some midfielders, so he might get more game time somewhere like that.
interesting that he has been released, he was already in Aus last season, so playing in Aus with the nix wouldnt be foreign - but then he wasnt really getting any game time.

Also when he did play in FFA cup he was played out of position.
Something odd. Maybe he just didn't click with Uffie. wrong attitude or something. Maybe RR is on to it though, Adelaide have been talking about bringing in an Aussie player after recent departures.
In saying that, he did seem to be a wee bit down the pecking order, and as mentioned, when played it was out of position.
Sure he'll probably pop up at another A-League side in the near future.
Wonder if that means we're looking at another replacement player? Or even potentially a visa player signing?
And would Cleur really want to join a team that's (2nd) bottom of the league?.

You seem so sure of how much we're paying him, have you been intercepting private club Faxes again?

Talking about the DM role. I just look at the statistics of the matches provided by Wyscout. In his first 2 full matches played, Pennington won the ball in terms of duels and interceptions more than any other player on the pitch (including opponents). Maybe we need a physical player but surely the most important thing is to win the ball from the opposition. And without giving dangerous free kicks away.
We got results in both matches and conceded nothing.
Awaiting the incoming... 🙄

Ben Old and others were stopping Prso from getting a lookin. But then a big club like Victory sign him. That’s maybe only part of the story (could be Prso was just unhappy in the Nix setup), but I see it as a good little long term sign.
Hopefully he doesn't actually stay in Sydney forever, lol

Good English, so that's going to help him fit in.

Yeah, there's a risk that if a Sydney based team wants him he'll decide to stay there as he'll be settled and won't have any attachment to Wellington, potentially would have spent most of a season playing for the Nix and never even gone to their home stadium.

Isn't that just the Nix way? Pick up a great talent, expose them to the league, does well for us, and then goes on to get snapped up by an Aussie club with deeper pockets.
Should be referred to as the Phoenix conundrum...
Hopefully he becomes enamoured by the club culture and the boys get around him and he wants to come back to NZ next season. Here's hoping it's the latter 🤞 (based of the small sample size thus far).

Really have to hope we get a few games here and show him what we're about.
Good to see us locking down some young talent
WPX now have 14 players signed beyond this season.

Gotta lock down Piscopo before the Melbourne teams start talking to him. Was mentioned on commentary that he had interest from Belgium and Greece tho.

Lovely news for the kids, and the academy just keeps churning out the youngsters, although I'm not sure what that means for Mogg & Ott. Seemingly just fill in signings to make up the squad for this season?
If Piscopo hasn't extended by now, you'd have to think there would be others in from here and abroad for his services.
However If he was to extend that would be brilliant. Would also be happy to take Sotirio, Payne & Fenton from that list and have Wootton and Gael extended, but based on their form in the backend of this season. From what I've seen so far, I'm impressed with the pair of them.

I imagine that horse has well & truly bolted. Honestly hard to see him in Wgtn next season. He's as Melbourne as Lygon Street.
Nice news on Van Hattum & Surman though. Go the Naki (and Canterbury).
On current form would love to keep Piscopo but I doubt we'll be able to.

I reckon Hay will pick Sutton for the AWs, so Mcgarry should get a few starts in March. When yes he maybe playing for his future.

I think I was suggesting he should be running for Prime Minister at the time
