Yeah I think I might give him some routine this season and put him in as starter for the year after. The only things which scare me are the routine (3 compared to 33) and one and ones/reflexes being 31-18 in favour of Duck.
Reserve or Yoof teams
So I am pretty stoked with the way my youth programme has delivered. Our whole midfield is now Youth Gradutes.
Pat Lewis 5* potential, starting to bloom.Tim Hickey 4* Potential, bloomed.Adrian Brock, 4 1/2* potential, still developing rapidly.Luke Green, 5* potential, star of the future.Vince Hebb, just made his first team debut, 4* potentialCharlie Tree is also a Little Trains youth academcy graduate. You've been a lucky bastard! I've had nothing for rather a few seasons now!
I should probably look into sacking ricki from his role as head of youth development.
How do you transfer players between first and B teams?
On the player profile page it'll say "demote player" on the right. You have to purchase a B team with pro days first though. Think it's under club -> account -> reserve team
And that was the exact sort of Youth Player I needed today
Charlie Giles shows as 4.5* Potential for me.
Result.
So my 5 star potential youth goalie, Ed Moir, is really starting to come along now...
Note that his skill index is now 17,037. Last week's value is shown belowI am thinking that by the end of the season he might be ready to slot into the first team.Future NZ keeper perhaps?
He will get you into the premier league single handedly (literally)
Meanwhile the rest of the graduates from the Little Chew Chews youth academy scheme at Homebush Road, and a couple of select imports now make up the backbone of the Trains' first XI.
DR/DMR, 4.5* potential:
DL,4.5* potential:
DC, 4.0 potential:
DMC/MC 4.0* potential
ML/OML 4.5* potential:

OMC/MC 4.5* potential:

It's taken a while but the youth policy is really starting to bear fruit now.
Yes, I do have high hopes for Ed Moir.
I think I need a really top class striker now... have been making do with high value contributions from Luke Green, Tim Hickey, Pat Lewis and Charlie Tree...
...but with Soren Koefoed needing to be sold last season to fund our interim veteran goalkeeper Peter Budaj (who helped us earn promotion last season giving us the best defence in the league and an 11 point run away league title win), I think we really are not there up front at the top level.
So next project is to engineer a 100,000+ skill index striker.
The Little Chew Chews youth programme is in a rich vein of form. After producing 5* potential Bruce Pappas last week, this week Craig Oughton comes through:
Steam Engines vs. Halcones Juniors on Wednesday...
Okay, anyone who has any spare scouting capacity I'd appreciate some confirmation of what is going on with this youth pull of mine:

Youth System Scout said 3.5 stars.
My 3 scouts I have sent say 5, 4 and 3.5.
They also say ( a ) In the middle of his bloom, ( b ) starting to bloom, and ( c ) Not bloomed, Normal bloomer.
Wtf? Interested in what anyone else sees...
With a 20 youth/18 development rated scout, I get 4 stars, not bloomed, normal bloomer.
With a 20 youth/18 development rated scout, I get 4 stars, not bloomed, normal bloomer.
Exactly the same for my 18/20 scout
Cheers.
Late to the party but my 20/18 gets 4.5 stars Not bloomed/ Normal bloomer.
The Little Trains Graduates are now the backbone of the Trains Senior Squad:

Would you pay 100 pro days to change him from MC to a striker?
Imaginative parents in Australia
Imaginative parents in Australia
I had a guy called Lee Lee, forgot the reason I signed him in the first place (stupid name) and he played in my reserves for about 4 seasons before I remembered he was 2.5 star potential and cut him. Quality management
3 out of 4 for you...
Got my first 5 star in many seasons today. scouted down to 4.5
Thats ridiculous being as I have 3 teams!
Hopefully it is the start of a good run.
my academy has come up with a few 4* players recently - I've sold them for the $$$$, pulled a 4.5* last saturday.
check out Brian Wilkes
Nice work Prof.
wanted to sell my 5 star actually, but he is only 17. Stupid rule
Supposedly a 4.5/5 star from two of my youth/development scouts.
Been pulling 3.5-4 stars quite often since my youth dev was upgraded to lvl 8 and am currently upgrading it to lvl 9.
Also upgrading training grounds to lvl 8.
What are your thoughts on pulling young/normal/old talents? I've been pulling young talents only thinking that the routine would be good down the line. Is this just a waste of time?
Kinda depends on your situation. I have a fairly decent B team beginning to form so I wouldn't be able to fit in a 15 year old on the bench unless they were 4* +, and it takes an age to wait for them, so sometimes normal is easier, faster (you get help from the YA quicker for the first team) and doesn't cost the 2 PRO.
However, for an all-or-nothing strategy getting the young talents is big as if you pull a big-time talent you get a huge amount of time to train them and garner routine, eg my guy Ivan Hyde - only just turned 19 but has played 130 games and has 14.1 routine, which is pretty helpful.
Yeah my B team is really just there to help my youth players get routine. They have drawn one game and lost the rest and I don't care if they win or lose haha.
So in theory, if you have a high YA it doesn't matter if you go with young/normal/old talents, the quality (and probability) is related only to the level of YA?
A few of my better players in the first team are getting on a bit and I need to replace them probably in the next 2-3 seasons.
Might have to try to get lucky pulling a few older talents then!

That's correct. All that changes is how good they will be straight away, eg a 20 year old 5* prospect is almost certain to be far superior when drafted than a 15 year old 5* prospect.
theoretically you can train the younger ones up how you want them though, and probably build up a lot more routine. But then yeah weigh that up with how full your reserve side is, and how much routine you'll actually manage to get them (and whether its worth blowing 2 pro days a week for).
I normally just go with normal, but if I have an average training facility I go with older so I can sell them straight away (just in case I get a 17 year old and have to wait a year before selling them - like what just happened with my 5 star guy)
I've got a level 7 academy and I don't pull sh#t. I think I've only ever had 2 players come through with a 4* or better rating. For about 5 seasons the best youth pull I ever had was the guy I pulled the very day I joined the game. All that expanding my academy seems to have got me is multiple 2.5 and 3* players a week instead of just one. I just keep waiting for that gem...
I don't pull sh#t.
Have you tried lube?

Pretty happy with Halcones Juniors' last few games, seem to be taking plenty of shots with a good portion on target :)

TM must have heard me whining about my youth system - I got a potential 4.5-5 star 18yo kid today, depending on which scout you trust. Only problem is he's a late bloomer. Oh well....
Got a 4.5* normal blooming DMC today. Things are looking up!
