Yeah pretty strong squad now. Wonder if they will play like the Roar, or if Ange will try something different?

Sydney FC has signed Croatian striker Krunoslav Lovrek to bolster the Sky Blues attack for the 2012/13 Hyundai A-League season.

The 32-year-old, who represented Croatia at U19, U20 and U21 level, joins Sydney FC from Chinese Super League side Qingdao Jonoon and will start pre season training with the rest of the Sky Blues squad on 16 July.

Would be the type of ball playing CB that would really fit Ange's system. He looked decent at DM as well.

Sterjovski confirmed now.

Central Coast Mariners can this morning confirm media speculation that former Qantas Socceroo utility Mile Sterjovski has agreed terms with the Club on an initial one-season contract.
http://www.footballaustralia.com.au/centralcoastmariners/news-display/Sterjovski-agrees-terms-with-Central-Coast/48031

Not really a replacement for Simon, but is better than having to play McBreen & Kwasnik.

There is talk that Wilkinson is the A-League player off to the K-League. With their cash problems, they might jump at the chance to sell him.

But saying that, they did turn down Matt Ryan's request to go have a trial at Burnley. He is in the last year of his contract, if they wanted to cash in on him they need to sell him this season.

Import slots left:

Adelaide United - 2 (3 if Cassio gets citizenship)
Brisbane Roar - 2
Central Coast Mariners - 3
Melbourne Heart - 1
Melbourne Victory - 0
Newcastle Jets - 2
Perth Glory - 1
Sydney FC - 0
Wellington Phoenix - 1
Western Sydney Wanderers - 5

Most teams look to be close to their final rosters with just imports to find, apart from Heart & Wanderers who still need to find quite a few domestic players.

Dogged Adelaide United midfielder Francisco ‘Pancho’ Usucar will not suit up for the Reds next season after deciding to continue his career back in his home continent.

The former Uruguayan U-20 and U-17 representative has attracted interest from a club in Ecuador and has signalled his interest to the Reds of his desire to move on.

Wonder what is happening in Adelaide. Mullen & Usucar gone, van Dijk up for sale, no replacement signings and the CEO moaning about their players.

Central Coast Mariners are on the verge of losing their captain, after the club granted Alex Wilkinson permission to talk to K-League side Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors.

The Mariners deny any deal has already been done between the clubs for their skipper, but the club are willing to let the long-serving defender explore the opportunity.

If CCM lose Wilkinson it will put a dent in their depth at the back. Being broke, they will have to hope they have some youth players that can step up to replace him.

Also there are rumours that Princess will leave the Victory for South Korea
Seems it was the wrong Melbourne team. Heart are set to lose Hamill according to media reports.
Melbourne Heart teenager Brendan Hamill is set to become the latest Australian defender to join the exodus to Korea by signing for Seongnam Ilhwa.

Just seven months after penning a contract extension with Heart, the 19-year-old Australia Under-23 international has been lined up to replace departed Socceroos centre-back Sasa Ognenovski at the 2010 Asian Champions League winner.

http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/news/1112938/Hamill-set-for-Seongnam-switch

If he goes, the Heart could lose both their young centre backs in the next few weeks. They only have 17 players on the books at this stage, so losing both Hamill & Good will leave them short on numbers.

THE mystery Socceroo who has expressed interest in joining Adelaide United is former Brisbane Roar midfielder Adam Sarota.

Sarota, who plays with Dutch side Utrecht, is approaching the end of a three-year deal signed in 2010 and appears open to a move back to Australia.

But it's unlikely to be to Hindmarsh, with Reds coach John Kosmina unconvinced about whether the twice-capped national team player is the right fit for his squad.

"I think he's a quality player but would I use him to replace what I've got at the moment?" Kosmina said. "He's asking for a decent contract as well. Would that money be better spent elsewhere?"

The Reds have ramped up their search for a foreign recruit after the departures of Daniel Mullen (China) and Francisco Usucar (Ecuador) in the past fortnight.

Kosmina is looking for an attacking midfielder/forward and a left-sided central midfielder.

"I would best describe what I'm looking for right now as a more dynamic, creative type of player," Kosmina said.

"(And) we're looking for a lefty. I'd like to get a ball-playing left-footer for a more central role ... (at the moment) we've got right-footers playing in left-sided positions."

The Reds have already missed three players they were seriously considering:

JUAN Manuel Varea, an Argentinian attacking midfielder who has signed in Azerbaijan;

LUCAS Nania, an Argentinian midfielder who has decided to stay in his home country; and,

FILIPE da Costa, a Portuguese midfielder signed in Cyprus.

Kosmina is making inquiries about an Argentinian left-sided defensive midfielder who was "out of this world" but had "had a lot of injuries".

He appears keen to add at least one new signing before the Reds' Asian Champions League quarter-final against Bunyodkor on September 19.

Brisbane Roar has secured the services of South Korean winger Do Dong-Hyun to their Hyundai A-League squad.

The 19-year-old, who has represented his country at U-20s level, trialled with the Roar squad at the latter end of last season and has returned to Australia to put pen to paper, pending an international clearance.

Do’s three-year contract will keep him at the club until the end of the 2014/15 season.

Adelaide United FC is continuing in its search for new additions to the squad with two overseas players set to head to Adelaide on trial.

American Dexter Rosales and Sydney based Portuguese forward Fabio Ferreira have agreed to train with the Reds, giving Coach John Kosmina a chance to have a first hand look at what they have to offer.

The Hunter Ports Newcastle Jets are trialling former Scottish international striker Mark Burchill.

Burchill has paid his own way to Australia to take part in a week-long trial with the Jets.

The 31-year-old striker represented Scotland six times between 1999 and 2000 and his previous Clubs include Celtic, Brimingham City and Portsmouth.

He most recently played for INSEE Police United FC in the Thailand Premier League under former Adelaide United assistant coach Phil Stubbins.

Melbourne Heart FC has strengthened its attacking armoury with the signing of striker Dylan Macallister for the Hyundai A-League 2012/13 season.

Macallister, 30, has signed a two-year deal to link up with Heart and follows the arrivals of attackers Josip Tadic and former Gold Coast United speedster Golgol Mebrahtu.

If Tadic does turn out to be a donkey, I don't think there will be many goals from that attack.
