I still think he is class. If he signs for Melbourne I won't be happy, but then hewill be looking for a job. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't sign for the new Sydney team and spend the next year getting things ready coaching and playerwise. You know, completely build something out of absolutely nothing. I might be wrong of course. I hope not.

He is in the age group where one usually can have some time off (not working), but spending a full year not working is usually not ideal.

However, it is not impossible that - for argument's sake - the new Sydney franchise may pay him a small retainer not to take on the job with the Bitumens in the coming season, and then come back work with the Sydney team the following season. He could take on a lesser paying job then for a year and avoid coaching away from Sydney altogether.

This is just pure speculation of course.

Not suggesting he absolutely did match fix to get Victory instead of Adelaide, but he didn't exactly confirm that we were trying to win in the press conference. When asked if we were trying to win he said that we did what we needed to do, which was prepare for Melbourne victory. Very weird press conference, not many coaches are so indifferent after a 5-0 humping

The worst i've ever heard was Mark McGhee after we (Aberdeen) got pumped 9-0 at Celtic Park. His response? It's just 3 points.  Needless to say, the support went apoplectic at this.

But agree, bizarre thing for him to say, and you'd say he was clearly hoping for Victory, probably based upon our results against them this season.

Maybe a masterstroke to play against Victory, but I doubt it, they will fudge us so hard, nothing in the last 5-6 games shows us that we can win this.

I do not listen to him anymore, but I read last weeks pre-game article that he is close with Poppa and he wanted to win. Then I saw the lineup and the result is worse than I expected and killed my otherwise brilliant sunday.

I prefer coaches who always want to win and I can't see anything in playing kids against top opposition, this is not a training match, this supposed to be entertainment. Screw this.

I don't disagree with the line-up we had last night, there was nothing to be gained by playing guys at risk of suspension, or exposing Krishna to injury in a game with very little meaning (and I wouldn't have brought him on at all). In terms of our opposition, once the results went the way they did prior to Sunday, the prospect of going to Melbourne became very real, and I suspect it would have likely been the result even if we'd played the usual starting XI.

I can understand people saying that they'd prefer to play Victory over Adelaide, because it feels like we competed better against the former this season. That, of course, completely glosses over two pretty critical facts: 1) Victory have a long history of notching things up a gear or two in the playoffs, and 2) we had the fortune of playing Victory in quick succession while Honda was injured, so he's only played 30-odd minutes against us this season (he missed the first two games, and only came on in the second half of the third).

I guess we'll see how it goes on Friday, but I'm not holding my breath.

It could have been test bed for the Friday/Sunday game, recent games gave us no confidence that we can win against Victory. Rufer and Dura should have avoided cards by playing smart and I’m not buying into the eventually getting injury thing, why then playing Williams in a makeshift position? Perth did not spare anyone, it’s all excuses.

We won’t solve this here anyway, I just feel screwed watching the game.

Thats rubbish to suggest Durra and Rufer could have avoided cards by playing clever have you not seen some of the ridiculous cards given to our players this season.Much smarter option by a longshot to ensure they are there for friday was not to play them.See  no reason at all why a fired up Phoenix team cant give Victory a bloody big fright. Dont really think it mattered to much either way who they faced in the finals first.

How has no-one else involved in football in the world figured out that you can avoid cards by playing smart? I'm sure every player would "play smart" if it was that simple. As for Williams playing RWB, it makes complete sense to give a player as many minutes in an unfamiliar position if they are going to be playing there for the foreseeable future (whether that is one game, or three). Perth now have a week off, so it would seem strange for them to rest players (when they did that last week vs Sydney), and effectively have some players go the best part of a month without playing. We'll just have to wait until Friday to see if all this pays off.

So SMH is reporting he is there. I'm ok if he goes there, I'm not going to be ok if Nix players (2 or more) end up following him to the team as it would show a clear conflict of interest of him coaching us and hiring his new players at the same time. Clearly WU have been speaking to their coach about the players they have been signing already.

We can't sign because we don't have a coach for next season and every of our better out of contract players waiting and looking for better offers. The damage is done.

If we get trashed on Friday all what is left is some great press conference and a 6th place, and we have to deal with the carnage.

Strange, fixed that.

Yeah I really we are stuffed without the coach but I feel it has been made worse with Rudan going to another team in the league. Very easy to whisper in the players ear to follow him.

Drawing an analogy (as Rudan is all about family) and I hope this is not going to offend anyone but this is reality

You are sleeping with a woman and at the same time are having an affair, whom you are shortly going to turn into real love

Do you broadcast the affair to your partner, her family, friends etc

No. That would be embarrassing to her and you

You first finish your relationship and then say I've now suddenly discovered this new one

The problem here however he is sorting out the custody of the kids behind his current partners back before he goes

I think we're all getting a bit carried away. I'm all for metaphors and analogies but bringing in love, affairs, marriage etc in business (and football in general) doesn't really cut it.
If I had a penny every time an employee has resigned and asked to be allowed to leave before the end of their notice period, I wouldn't need to be working right now.
Rudan and the Nix's relationship is an employment one and as such it should be treated.

Sure but he needs to be open and honest about it. He simply has received a better offer which he has taken and we will find out about once he has done a runner.

He brought in his family into the whole story, and I say it again: I don't really want to know if he has issue with his wife and kids being abroad, I don't really wan't to know if his boys are teenagers, if he has a dog or have one of him has diabetes. He took the job because he wanted it badly and was not think it through with his family. This sounds all maybe harsh, but I'm here for the football and the entertainment on the field. We have enough problems in the world I care about, this is not one of it. It should be handled differently and I hope Rudan and we all learn from it.The only way he can redeem himself is to win on Friday ;-)

People's situations change, I've left jobs unfinished because of personal circumstances as I'm sure most people here have too. Likewise employers lay off people when a businesses circumstances change. It's just life.

Don't get me wrong though, Rudan's still a cod for ditching us for taking half of our squad with him.

are you serious? 6 players following him would be rude. i realise players have to think about their futures but fudge that is a dick move poaching that many players. 1 or 2 i may be able to live with but 6 would kind of push me over the edge.

Maybe it is half of the lineup on the day rather than our our full squad.

Either way, I am sure that past certain number of players poached with the coach they could also get a club license thrown in, as a free bonus.

Even if Rudan wasn't going to WU, it's likely some of our players would end up there. We've had a decent season with a cheap squad and a heap of good players off contract, while they are building a new side.

Sorry but that rationale does not work

First of all if we had a coach staying he would have signed some of our best players. Williams has already said he was waiting

Second there are 5 better sides ahead of us on the table

If they all contribute 6, that's a shark load of players.

6 times 6 equals 36

That's assuming there is no one signed from the other four teams of course
