Yeah have not seen anything yet other than on twitter last night. Can remember who it was from now but it was one of the more prominant Aussie Twitterers ! As for the "reported" injury, I am not prepared to stake my balls on it!

Guess it was bollocks then! http://bit.ly/U5J9go
Must say the Roar's new striker is an interesting one. Looks to have a great goal scoring records but doesn't stick around one place for very long. Played in Austria, UAE, Iran, Kazakhstan and Macedonia.
Roar to change their logo? Rumours that this design has been lodged for trademark (Im assuming it will be coloured)
Not getting a lot of love on twitter.
It looks better than current but still shit

Aren't they just ripping off the dutch?
A lot more history, and to be frank, a better looking lion too.
Queensland Lions, the team that became the Roar (and then sold it and resumed as BPL club) has ethnically Dutch roots (it was originally called Hollandia Inala Soccer Club). The lion, and the orange kit are based on that. I think ripping-off might be a bit strong.

Well played. Can't say I have the slightest interest of football history in Brisbane or the wider Queensland area. I'll chalk it up as learning something new.
Still standing by the comment that the Dutch lion looks more impressive though.
The more I look at it, the more the font annoys me. It looks horrible on that slant.

You are right, and there is still a very strong club side in the area called the Lions. Fantastic clubrooms, and excellent coaches for junior sides.
I really like it myself.
New Brisbane Roar logo Gryffindor emblem
Gryffinroar?
their new kit looks great

An efnik badge, isn't that against FFA rules?
So nice

Boring phone book looking font. I also don't understand the FC part with the diamond & roar not being centred within the ribbon.
It's they they couldn't be bothered making it decent.
Theo ruled out until Rnd 9

Yeah Sky News saying Roar on lookout for new GK as Theo is certainly out for minimum of 8 weeks.
Bad luck for him and hopefully he regains fitness ASAP
Is this referencing home and away or something?

Maybe a chance of beating them this season.
Decent read on what is going wrong for the Roar on the field - http://www.australiascout.com/2014/brisbane-roar-tactical-analysis/
A poor decision to sack Mulvey for a few reasons:
- This ain't fucking Europe. There is no relegation. There is no Champions League which is essential for your club's revenue. Short term thinking makes sense in the Premier League. In the A-League you need to have long term plans and stick to them.
- The Roar were bloody good last year. Berisha did mean a lot to them but he also missed a whole chunk of games last season and Brisbane won the regular season by a million miles. A coach who wins a title at least deserves the benefit of a few more games. Brisbane are struggling more this season because the top 4 this season is way improved on last year. Brisbane have played all the top 4 teams but only 2 of the other 5.
- Good luck to the next guy who comes in. Sackings in the A-League should happen post season. It is unfair to expect a coach to perform without a pre season and without the ability to pick his own squad. This means that you are logically stuck with the next guy until the end of next season.
Roar just needed to clean out some dead wood (a lot of them marquee players). There may be some rumblings going on behind the scenes but who would coach at that sort of a club with so little loyalty. I feel a football club should stand for something more. Mulvey deserves another gig somewhere.
Fully agree Ryan. Sacking someone 6 games in is ridiculous and rather stupid.
So you are telling me that the two titles won was more to do with his coaching than the talent Brisbane had on their roster? Fuck off Leggy. You do not honestly believe this cause if this were true, he would be getting more than what he has out of what he has on the roster. To support this, the roster is not that disimilar from last year sans Berisha. Wonder if thats related.
I admit he is not my favourite coach, and he may have been lucky in the first year with what he was left with but you can't tell me that you can be that lucky two years in a row.
Your argument about the roster does not stack up as no team on this planet relies on one player, even Berisha.
If Mulvey was that good, Berisha leaving would not be an issue. I challenge you to find any reasonable HAL follower whom would say 'Sure I picked Brisbane to be 3rd from bottom with 1 win from 6 after round 6.' You would not find one person that would have said that because sans Berisha, they are largely the same team. If Mulvey was as good as you say, this would not be an issue.
Roar have confirmed Mulvey is goneski
that's a bit off to say he is "stepping down" considering he had no idea about it when media were asking him today.

I don't get what you are arguing. It seems to me you are saying that Brisbane won last year just because of Berisha and now Berisha is gone they should still win?
Mulvey is a great tactician but a poor recruiter. Henrique/Solorzano and Kuritisi all play the same position and are all visa players. Franjic has not been replaced.
Sydney are a lot better and more balanced now they have got rid of ADP. There is no decision between Krishna and Berisha though. Berisha is a marquee and Krishna is not. Brisbane are not allowed to have 2 international marquees so could not hope to keep Berisha. If they gave away Broich for Berisha everyone would be saying "what is the point in having a striker who gets no service?" Brisbane doing well last year shouldn't be a surprise because they basically had two foreign marquee quality players which no other team had.
Berisha only started 17 A-league games in last year's regular season and was red carded in 3 of them. Brisbane were not reliant on Berisha because they won the league by 10 points and he only completed a game half the time. Franjic is the bigger loss for me.
Anyway the joke of it is that the guy they have signed as coach has a poor record. No one thinks Mike Mulvey is the next Sir Alex but we just think that a coach who wins a title deserves more than 6 games to be judged on. Especially when those 6 games featured games against the top 4 sides in the competition.
I think how to win the A-League goes:
Year 1: You are shit. You miss the playoffs.
Year 2: You are better. You come 4th.
Year 3: You are awesome. You win.
Rinse and repeat. Of course teams can go back to back and the world isn't as simple as that but I think it's the basic blue print. You have your few years as a competitor but then you need to have a rebuilding season. In that rebuilding season you sure as hell better have some faith and keep your coach around.
Since it is a salary capped league when you win your players become over valued so you have to sell them. This means you are going to lose good players (as the Roar did with Berisha). Your best young players then go overseas as A-League champions. This happened to the Roar The challenge is then to rebuild yourself. This happens a lot in the NRL where teams go up and down like a yo-yo. The A-League's salary cap is slightly less restrictive but I think the principle still applies. If you only need to come top 6 to have a chance then why not let the season play out when you are only 3 points off 6th with a game in hand?
I hope Adelaide wins the league this season. No shortage of long term thinking there - from a management and innovative perspective then they are the best. It used to be Central Coast. I have no idea whether they are now rebuilding or are just going to permanently be shit. Some wanted to sack Gombau after a poor start to the season last year but the board of Adelaide obviously back his plans.
