A-Leagues 22/23, The Other Matches Thread
Only just tuned in and catching up, but that is up there as the worst call of the season so far.
That it was upheld on VAR review is a disgrace.
This is what Carl Veart said after Yan Sasse of Wellington Phoenix was sent off against Adelaide United in round one: “they’ve said anything with studs raised that makes contact is going to be a red card this year.” pic.twitter.com/xIrA4aJEkz

Slowed it down and replayed over and over and I am seeing piss all contact. But to be fair I'm several beverages deep so maybe I'm missing something.
Yellow card at best. Wonder if Veart will remember that interview from Wellington when he's doing the post match interviews after this one?

Not coincidentally Faghani is head and shoulders above just about all the current A League refs.
And hold on to win.
Not holding my breath though.

Imo, he is very lucky to get it rescinded. Not because I think its a red but because the threshold is "a card should not have been issued". I could see arguments that it was worthy of a yellow card.
Edit. WSW looking like the real deal this season. One thing about Rudan. He knows how to recruit defenders. Taylor for us now Marcelo looks like a real get. I'd swap our back four with there's any day.

A forced change sees Folami come into the XI for Brillante. Broxham replaces Timotheou in defence.
