The young players from coastal would have learnt a lot from this game . going to be an interesting season at the top . looks like its going to be a close race for 3rd with the bottom 5 all looking capable of beating each other .
Based on the Coastal team sheet, I see 3 x 16 year olds, 3 x 15 year olds and 4 others under 20.

Who is driving the @MainlandFooty twitter account tonight? I had a "what the?" response when i saw on 39min "the team from out west" to describe e UC v Waimak game. Presumably the tweeter's point of reference is east of the CBD. Vim, are you moonlighting?!?!?
By the way, Macey scored a 90th minute worldy to win it for Waimak. I think Macey might still be 13 years old.

The University is in the west is it not?

I'd hope you'd recognise my tweets by starting off frequent and then tailing off into nothingness.

Aaah yes, the DoBro Multiplier Effect #dontdrink&tweet
3 wins on the trot for the young Waimak women - over FC, Parklands and UC. Does this speak more of the quality of the Waimak teenagers or the quality of the league? Honest question.
Think maybe the doubters after Waimaks first 2 games might be doubting their own judgement. Oh dear!!
Wonder if the Board of FC still think McMann was a good decision? Promised the world and so far just the one win against bottom placed UC and the next 2 games against Coastal and Cashmere? Likely to be one win from 6 before they play Parklands.
That's a different issue Foal; but this is the right place to discuss how one individual's actions (backed by his new employer) has basically screwed the womens premier league for this season. Do you think he gives a toss? Does the board of fc20? Thought they were better than that, but they'll claim it's not their fault. Will Mainland take action. No, but they should to protect the integrity of the league and a key club for the future health of that league.
I'm picking the league this year will be 4 competitive teams (Coastal, Cashmere, UC, Paklands), then a very young Waimak team, then fudging cocks 20 quite a way back, with a kids team from tasman playing 2 games every time they come to chch finishing last.
Think Waimak team will surprise a few. They'll be top 4 next season.
He top two aside, surprised at how poorly Uni is going but interesting so far Global!

Probably both.
Waimak is better than what some gave them credit for (and with good numbers coming in behind them). Good on them.
On the other hand some players thinking / brainwashed into believing they made it to the top by reaching WPL level, and then start club hopping.
Exactly what happened with Mcmann after getting sacked from Selwyn taking a bunch of gullible young ladies with him. Wonder how many of them or the disillusioned displaced ones at FC for that matter will still be playing football next year?
Not only years of their own progression wasted, but it also affects the pathway for young ones aspiring to progress at their club.
It is a numbers game and at this rate the vicious circle will continue and quality of women's football will be very slow and difficult to improve.

hit the nail on the head there . Too many players strutting around like they are some sort of superstars because they are playing at what they consider to be an elite level . If they have worked their arse off day after day - week after week and year after year and got the absolute best out of themselves and done this for the sake of every team they played for, then and only then have they earned the right to walk around like a peacock. Just found this quote from a New Zealand athlete who at the age of 26 is off to his first olympics .he sums it up nicely.
Quote :-
Thankyou everyone for the support and wishes but my job is far from over. My journey has not all been just so I can "make the team" if it was then I guess I could stop and be happy. The Olympics is about competition and winning. I didn't waste all these years busting my ass to "make the team" I'm going to RIO to challenge, to try my best to WIN! Inside the mind of all athletes is the key and difference from those happy to compete / get selected and those are hungry to Win medals!

Yep, didn't realise how many UC had lost and not picked up many experienced players. Now looks like Cashmere, with perhaps Coastal on their day; then Tasman/Waimak/maybe Parklands, followed by FC and UC. When we look at depth/2nd teams - Cashmere have a constant stream, Coastal ok, Waimak and Fc have plenty more in the pipeline, Parklands not much; Selwyn will have. How is WPDL going - no ladder available.
As has been alluded to regarding players numbers, it's a pretty small pond these players are in.

NZ Women’s Knock Out Cup: Draw Revised for Round One
After discussions with Football South and Mainland Football, New Zealand Football has revised the round one draw for the upcoming New Zealand Women’s Knock Out Cup.
The draw, which could have seen a team from Queenstown playing a side from Nelson in round two, has been amended to ensure both Mainland and Football South do not incur major travel costs until their teams reach the quarterfinal stages.
New Zealand Football supports this amendment as it is in line with the regulation that the draw for the rounds involving 32 and 16 teams (Rounds 1 and 2) shall so far is practicable have due regard for the costs of travel for participating teams.
Daniel Farrow, the National Competitions Manager at New Zealand Football, said the revised draw was in line with a key premise of the Chatham Cup and Women’s Knock Out Cup.
“We are conscious of the costs that clubs incur to participate in national competitions and New Zealand Football is committed to keeping these costs as low as possible,” said Farrow.
“There are challenges with the Women’s Knock Out Cup as there are a limited number of teams and the federations cover a large geographical area. Whilst we have a uniform approach to how this draw is completed, we are happy to accommodate this request and revise the draw.”
The first round of the Chatham Cup and the Women’s Knock Out Cup will be staged on May 14- 15.

Cashmere 11-0 v Waimak....at HALF time
23-0. If it was juniors Mainland and the club would immediately see the need to drop this team to a lower division for the mental well being and appropriate development of the players. oh wait.
I hope this and other results to date prompt a review of the womens game in the region.
Waimak are not the worst team in the Leauge either
A sorry state of affairs.

Waimak's caused not help when having to play the last 30 mins with only 10 player's after Gabi Rennie off injuried and no one left to be subbed on after several subs do not arrive after playing in the PDL

11-0 at HT, so made no difference.
GD of 59 after 6 games. Hardly ideal pre-olympic preparation for Longo/Moore. The only competitive game is when they play Coastal. Surprised Readings hasn't insisted they play in Auckland.

Question: How many times through recent seasons have Coastal Women put double figures up against teams in this league?
