Sorry to post this foal. From memory I recall posting that Tasman would struggle with the double headers - so I too definitely didn't forsee their successful season in a 2 tier league. Uni have fallen from challengers to last. Did holly pascoe play? They became fcmcmann leftovers did they not? Waimak tweenagers still years from challenging top 2. Are Selwyn in a position to return next year? How did they go competing against the reserves teams - except FC Mcmann11?
Big game tomorrow Cashmere Technical verses Forest Hill-Milford United in the semi-final of the National Women's Knockout Cup at Garrick Memorial Park at 1pm.
Hopefully Cashmere Technical will become the fourth Christchurch side to reach the KO Cup Final.

I just didn't want to tip CTFC at #1.

cashmere were smashed 6-0 by forest hill Milford in the nz women's knock out cup today
Couple of periods when CTFC needed to score after positional superiority, but not up to it.
Impressed with the athleticism of FHM, their movement and understanding.
I thought they new what to do when they got the ball, across the team.
Too many CTFC players were reactive rather than pro-active.
A bit like Pride in last year's WNL final.
Look, receive, play. Get that right or forget it.
Good crowd.
Pity there were not more local younger girls (players) watching.
First semi-final for many, must do better next time.
Look forward to local KO final.
still good to make top 4
It's a hard comp to win.

Reta Fitzpatrick Cup
Cashmere Technical 3 (Monique Barker 2, Mikayla Wieblitz) Parklands 0 HT 2 - 0
Good game, Parklands unlucky not to score at least one goal.
Congratulations to Rebecca Lake on her U17 World Cup selection. Well deserved.
Canty United Pride, good to see some new names in there & rewarded for their club seasons

Quite agree, Fred.
First caught my eye in last year's Reta Fitzpatrick Cup Final - she's a good 'un!
Indeed, I'd go so far as to say I see Emma Clarke as a strong contender to succeed Ria Percival in the Football Ferns long-term. She certainly has both the potential to do so, that's for sure.
Cheers,
JR
Cheers mate, I hope Annalie can take her under her wing in her new role. She certainly knows what it takes. There are one or two more down here as well. Catch up soon.
Fred
Kayla Thomas - so underrated - how she hasn't made the Pride is absolutely puzzling.
and yes Emma Clarke has really developed into a great athlete.
Yes and young Miss Fraser from Waimak.
Congratulation's to Mikayla Wieblitz, Meikayla Moore (captain) and Juliana Los who have all been named in the NZ Under 20 World Cup side for the upcoming qualifliers in Papa New Guinea in November / December.

Having met her Dad I wouldn't have picked that he would be the overpowering person you speak of.
I thought this would be one of those "happy stories" that there wasn't much to pick on?
wasn't at the game, but NZF initially reported as two and an OG, then 'corrected' to three. have seen this a few times when a hat-trick is at stake. 'responding' to being left out of the under-17 squad with a performance like this suggests fears premature/misplaxced
rumour is that mcmann will not be coaching FC2011 womens team next year. Hardly call moving a team up one place from the previous year a success and reason to move on, seems more likely that his goal was to fudge up selwyn by stealing there players. Graham if you read this:
1. you did not fudge up Selwyn ( no player is bigger than the game,)
2. you fudged around a lot of players and hence they will or have left the sport.
3. read 1 and 2 and.
4. If you have something to offer the game then don't walk away from it.
5. yes i do have a bee in my bonet.
6. inclusive not exclusive
Sure that Fc have finally come to their senses. From what I hear the players respect the assistant more than the coach. But they've both been discarded for a more highly rated candidate. McMann walking around at the Pride game with a clipboard today. Probably creating a list of players he'd like to coach if he act had a job
If the name I hear is correct (a female) could have a big impact on one other of the existing WPL clubs.

Existing female WPL coaches is a short list! But could it be an existing player?
3rd club in 3 seasons
From the Uni FB Page. New Coaches for WPL
We are very proud to announce Khalil Gerbeaux as Head coach of our Women’s Premier League team. He will be joined by Oliver Tieleman as his assistant.
Khalil is a Sports and Recreation Management Graduate who started his
coaching career as WPDL Head coach and WPL Assistant Coach at Halswell
United in 2012.
He has also coached multiple teams for Cashmere
Technical and Selwyn United and he took the U20 Selwyn Women's Lotto
team for the 2015 tournament. Additionally, he was Head Coach for the First 11 at Rangi Ruru High School.
Oliver is a second-year Sports Coaching student who has spent most of his coaching career at Selwyn United working with both men’s and women’s teams. He was Assistant Coach for the U20 Selwyn Women's team for the 2016 Lotto tournament.
In Khalil and Oliver we believe that we have found two terrific coaches to carry on the tremendous progress the club has made in recent years.
In accepting the roles, Khalil and Oliver had the following to say:
Khalil: “I am delighted to be returning to the Women’s Premier League as Universities Head Coach. I am really excited to begin working with a strong group of players and to take advantage of some of the best facilities and equipment in the league such as Video Analysis and Strength & Conditioning support. One key focus for us this year will be to put in place a development pathway to help the team develop as players and people to help all of our players achieve what they are capable of.”
Oliver: “I am very excited to be a part of the Coaching team at UC Football and to be given this opportunity in the women's game. I am looking forward to working with Khalil and helping him to develop our players towards bigger and better things. Khalil and I will also have access to Video Analysis and Strength & Conditioning support which will no doubt be a massive benefit for the development of our players.”

I see some FC20 talent heading across the river to Waimak. I wonder if the new FC coach (unproven at this level - what level has she coached at previously?) will be able to attract any big name players; it looks like FC are taking a budget approach after the McMann disaster.
Bonus for CashTec in that Johanna Hamblett has returned home (for now) after a highly successful stint at Mississippi State Uni where she started every game in her freshman year.

Some early transfers:
Confirmed to Waimak include: Lily Fisher, Brian Guyan, Kayla Thomas from FC20 and Sophie Williams from Parklands.
Coastal look to have recruited long time Cashmere player Maggie Anderson who has put in a request, and similarly (i think) longtime FC20 player Sophie Norris.
wrong thread...
In a blow to Cashmere WPL hopes I'm hearing Annalie Longo will be playing for a mens team this season.
In a blow to Cashmere WPL hopes I'm hearing Annalie Longo will be playing for a mens team this season.
Selwyn 1st team played preseason game yesterday against Bays reserves. Victoria Esson was in goal for them. She was very good. Would say she is an asset for that team (have never seen her play or the Bays side). Obviously Annalie Longo will also be a big asset to whatever side she plays in. As I have no idea, what rules are there (if any?) for female players playing at as high as level in the men's game? Is it Mainland's jurisdiction or do Fifa rules come in?

Only rules I have seen that prevent a female playing against males is in the Chatham Cup as the rules refer to a him / he, rather than the term player, same applies in reverse to the National Women's KO Cup.
Certainly has happened in the past.
Believe Mainland would make the call, had a women (Cushla Lichtwark) play for her clubs men's team last season in a hope to improve her game to make the ferns team. Permission was given by Capital Football.
Victoria played for Bays reserves in 2015 season. I believe her coach recommended she play for a mens team.
