Best , no .. worst surfaces in Wellington
Also if you play after that damn 2nd team, there's no hot water. i hope you lot get transferred tomorrow, if I don't get a hot shower after the game I will die
Just an observation but why is it that all the stinking, minging, muddy, poorly maintained shambles pitches seem to be in WCC...?
The worst I can think of in the Hutt is probably the Heretaunga Ground that lazy News was whinging about earlier.
More teams per ground in wgtn? Plus the hutt has a few grounds on flood plains between stop banks and drain better.
Best grounds played on this year has been Alex 1 so far, first game of the season so in good nick. Newlands was ok the one game I played on there, missed the last one, as it was early in the season; just the cricket block takes up a decent sized area of the pitch and had a hole just big enough for a foot and about 3-5cm deep in the middle of the pitch. Others havent been great, Wakefield 4 and Raroa (which will probably host most of our homes games)
Good point News
Oh, another one. Grenada North... dreadful.
And had loads of dog sh*t on on the left wing as well
Indeed - watched Porirua v IBU Masters - goalkeeper scored from a kick out that probably never got higher than 8-10 ft - but went into the goals with the speed of a well taken shot from 25yds!

A good time to re-boot following recent Central League thread discussion.
The playing landscape has definitely changed for the better with the proliferation of turfs around the area now which has taken pressure off a lot of the grass surfaces. That said, many of the shark holes mentioned 7 years ago, are still shark holes!
Agreed at CL level (now that Tawa are gone). At Cap prem level things start getting a bit sketchy (Redwood, Kelburn Park) below that the fun commences!
Wakefield 3 or 4 are both rubbish. Raroa as well.

Redwood really isn't that bad anymore.
Wilton is pretty crap. With other pitches with cricket wickets in the middle they have at least tried to cover them with something but at Wilton the cricket strip is just removed and a slab of the pitch left missing. We're using Kaiwharawhara for training which isn't great but don't think it's used for matches.
Happy Valley the same. Just a nice hole in the middle of the pitch.
Depends if you mean the playground?

kura park is nice….
played many a game there VS Tawa and not many on Redwood over the last 10 years
We played there a couple of a weeks ago and it was quite good. Shouldn't be too bad yet.

Last time we played there it was after the snow a couple of years back and it was absolutely fudgeed.
Before they installed the artificial turf the run-off from the top field turned the one below into a stagnant bog and every season I played there as a kid I came down with monster pus-filled boils on both legs that were useful only in giving me days off from school.
The lower pitches are still pretty horrid but not stagnant. The goalposts often sink though so you have goals that are 8 feet tall at one end of the crossbar and 7 feet tall on the other.

Lol! Brilliant!
Not as bad a few yers ago where we got transferred to Granada North and the goal at one end was 5 feet tall. Had to pull the goal out and fetch some training goals that were on another pitch to use.
Karori 3 wasn't too bad today. They filled it with some sort of sand and gravel to help the drainage and it was pretty good considering the recent weather. Reasonably firm though the penalty area at the far end was full of mushrooms so not sure what has been put into the soil!
Is Raroa any good?
Not so much, no. Played there a few weeks ago when it was hard and very patchy. Apparently since then it's gotten worse with the bit of rain we've had.
What state is Wakefield 4 likely to be in this weekend?

As shark as ever.
Ah well, thought as much.
It's actually not too bad. Good grass coverage and firmish but still no England training pitch for Euros with imported grass!
must have transferred games off there last weekend as we had two IB home games moved to KP
Karori Park 1 an absolute disgrace on Saturday. Drainage marks every 30cm with small stones included. Can't believe Capital Football allowed games to be played on it, especially Cap 1 when the game between Karori and Tawa was scheduled for Karori Park 3.
Sure let's let players play on a pitch where slide tackles result in players getting cut knees and stones in their wounds. Absolute disgrace, especially given there are other grounds (including the rest of Karori Park) that could have been played on.
