I have often thought a solution for players who are suspended for accumulation of yellows or a red card, should all be given a two weeks minimum suspension, reduced by a week if they referee as a neutral, a lower grade team. May give them some empathy and an understanding of just how difficult a referees job is.
Awwwww Ref - Know The Laws
Heh, our manager has just offered up a box of beer on Facebook for someone to ref our game tomorrow. He's done it 2 or 3 times this season and think he's just sick of the abuse. Last week was particularly unpleasant.
Interesting.. we found the same thing with Stop Out.
Yeah, mainly it was one guy on the sideline who had to be asked to shut up or leave a number of times.

Hmm, what team and grade... I could possibly be bribed for a box of beers! lol

Haha me too - and I don't mind the abuse. #homodickretard
Karori Aces, cap 8.

Out at Ben Burn, probably cost me in petrol what I'd get from the free beer.

Good idea, but after ref'ing a friends Cap 11 team a few years ago, I would never ref an adults game that I wasn't officially appointed to - simply not worth the hassle!
Having said that, you can always ask Capital Football to appoint a ref - you may get lucky!
I definitely think it's worse in the lower grades where there are no official ref's appointed - I've copped more stick reffing the Nighthawks than I have in Cap 2-4.
It's a bit strange, because you'd think more people would have sympathy for the ref's given players will have to pick the whistle up at some stage themselves.
Were refs given a directive this week about players wearing non colour matched "skins" under their strip? This seemed to even happen down the grades.
I would have thought that they had more to worry about than someone wearing a black polyprop top under a white strip.

We have had that directive since the start of the season and to be honest it is Law 4 as well. Yes referees have been told to crack down on it and we are supposed to apply that rule no matter what grade the football is.

Communication has been sent to the clubs that this would happen, can go back through my emails but I'm sure I've seen something from Capital Football about it, so maybe it is with your club that haven't passed it on too the lower teams.

Must be hard to track down orange underclothing.

Have actually seen orange but think like a lot of the other colours you have to buy them online. Funny enough it is orange tape that apparently Eastbourne have trouble with so are allowed red instead.
Teach them young
At KP today, two players down with head injuries for at least 30-40 secs. All the players from both teams, both benches, most supporters demanding ref stop play. Some things were said "for fudge sake there is two players down with head injuries" = a yellow then "do you know the rules regarding head injuries" = red.
Happened later in the game too, no cards didn't stop play.
After the game ref said he gauged nothing wrong with players so played on. Also didn't let help come from sideline for players down. Wouldn't comment on what exactly was said.

Just to add to this I was there as I was refereeing a later game. Spoke to the referee you are talking about and he says the player swore at him after he gave him the yellow, which is why he got a straight red. I'm guessing what was actually said will be put into a report to Capital Football.
I can't comment on the head clash as I didn't see it but if players do want play stopped and referee hasn't stopped it, they can kick it out also.

The ball ended up getting kicked out but the ref wanted to play on. Lots of frustration from everyone around the incident and all could have been avoided if he and not been so ignorant about two players down with head knocks!
oh don't swear when concerned about the safety of players
oh don't swear when concerned about the safety of players
Generally not a good idea to swear on the field as you put yourself at risk of being sent. In this case he wasn't swearing at referee to stop play, after play was stopped and he was already shown a yellow card he decided to swear at the referee then

And we wonder why people complain about refs

Yup. Unsportsmanlike conduct I believe. But definitely against the LOTG
Is it against the rules to yell "dummy" or "mine"? I think I remember being told at my $5 referee course that it isn't but some old bastard today seemed to think it was.
Ta
Not true unless the player is using it to deceive the opposition (calling mine and he isn't near it) otherwise you can.
I got penalised for looking angry yesterday. Is that a thing?

Maybe the referee thought you were showing dissent not realising you look angry all the time ?
I remember back in junior football it used to get drummed into us and called up as a free kick whenever we said "Mine" etc.
however looking back I thought that was more of an emphasis so kids learn to call their names, to avoid leaving it to a referees interpretation, as you said.
But I definitely grew up thinking it was an actual rule.
