Elijah Taylor a good replacement, if this had happened last season I would have been concerned but think we have the depth to cover it.

What do people think our first choice 17 will be come week 1? Keeping in mind no Lillyman or Luck now?

My 13 would be - Locke, Tupou, Inu, Ropati, Manu, Jimmy M, Shaun, Rapira, Friend, Matulino, Mannering, Mateo and Taylor.

Bench is tough, I think with Friend there you don't necessarily need a specialist 9 on the bench which frees up a spot for the Fish. So my bench would go - Brown, Packer, Taii/Lousi (either of them)/Steve Rapira, Fish.

Tupou is the most average player ever, god knows why cleary played him so much. I'd eitha put inu on the wing and mannering/brown/hurrell in the centres, or just a straight swap for the fish

Id swop Tupou and the Fish around.

It will be interesting with Friend there and no Hohaia off the bench. We did quite well with changing our hookers up last year. Having someone quick and speedy of the bench to have a run at those fatties.

Both Rapira's, Lillyman and Luck out for the start of the season so far. It will be a very interesting looking pack we start the season with.

On a side note, was wondering if people would be interested in a NRL tipping comp in a similar vein to the A-League one I run on the forums?

I would be keen, But I think you would struggle to get the numbers

I'd be keen for about three weeks but would then lose interest.

Was thinking, 16 would be fine. Would mean 2 conferences, you play each person in your conference twice and the other conference once. That's 22 of the 26 weeks, so would leave 4 weeks for some play offs. So more NFL style format than promotion/relegation as we have for the A-League.

Is it me or is Steve Rapira always injured.

He was last season but he did look good when he was at the Cowboys. Not sure if he had any in jury problems in his 1 season with them.

I'll do the NRL tipping comp till I forget one week, throw a tantrum because I would've picked the winners, and refuse to continue.

Hope Hurrell does well. But watching him in the pre season games he looked shocking in the air

Like the team, bar Tupou over Inu and Fish. Inu was fantastic at the end of last year, so many tries.

Can't see us winning, but a good performance first up would be what I'm hoping for

Would feel a bit more comfortable with Inu outside him, don't really rate Tupou

Don't rate him either, but he was playing well at the end of last year

Only in comparison to how badly he was playing before that. You'd be hard-pressed to find a worse starting winger in the NRL

Hate to say it but the knights dragons match was about a million times better to watch than the perth adelaide match tonight.

Perth haven't been pretty all season, and Adelaide are shambles. The league was always going to be a better choice. Would take a Roar v CCM match over a Sharks v Titans match any day tho.

Broncos v eels tonight will win over A league for me I think. But then yeah on Saturday it'll be back to A league.

Eric Watson selling 50% to Owen Glenn, would be interesting to hear how much he paid.

Holy sh*t it was so painfully hot sitting there in Eden Park today.

Pretty exciting game, great crowd. We weren't that flash on defence for periods of the game and that really cost us as we let in some pretty soft tries. Johnson is a freak. Can't wait to see how he goes this season. Going to be fantastic to watch.

Anyone else go to the game? Those parachtests who landed on the pitch at halftime all had pretty nasty looking landings. Was quite hard to watch.

Interesting game yesterday. We were pretty poo but still came pretty close to pulling it off.

Plenty of positive signs for the season ahead. Maloneys lack of influence was a bit concerning. Lewis Brown, Sione Lousi, Konrad Hurrell all very good. Johno, Locky and Manu hot and cold.

I lost Tedesco and Gordon to injury first round, that and Maloney was no good for me, ideally he'd go for cronk but the injuries have forced changes. Early days though

Didn't realise Tedesco was hurt as well, another one to consider changing. I'm sitting on 549 points with none to play, looks like my UK mate is gonna spank me this first week, he has 100 odd lead and still couple more bunnies to play.
