Film recommendation.
Yeah...I sat through the whole movie picking holes in it. I don't normally do that but geez...
Saw it last night at the outdoor cinema on Sydney Harbour with a Russian friend that had read the book, she convinced me to get off the couch & see it.
Opera House made a nice backdrop
Good yarn, really enjoyed.
Nice to see Berkhoff on the screen again too.
That reminds me, Sexy Beast is always worth a re-visit if it's been a while.
The final doco in the Paradise Lost series about the West Memphis 3.
F*cking hell possibly the best film I've ever seen, watched it twice now:
Exhibit A: The Mayor of Nagoya.
Twuntius Maximus
OMG, she is too!

Not that it needs recommending, I'm sure many will see it.
Joss Wheddon (Buffy, Firefly fame) does a damn good job, entertaining film, action and comedy is what it promised and it delivered.
I've read John Rabe's diary, published as "A Good German In Nanking". Truely harrowing account of Japanese atrocities against Chinese prisoners of war & civilians including children (Rape of Nanking) where, in 3 months at the end of 1937, an estimated up to 370,000 were raped, tortured & massacred by various, & often horrendous, methods. Another book to read is "The Rape Of Nanking: The Forgotten Holocaust" by Iris Chang. At one stage 2 Japanese officers had a competition to see who could behead the most persons in an 1 hour period. I don't think anyone was brought to justice at the war crimes trials. Certainly, this was never taught in schools in Japan. The government still denies it happened.
Film was on CCTV 9 (Freeview 29) on Sat and Sun nights. I only watched about 2-3 minutes each night - too hard to watch for me.
