Fairfield Fairies
QB1 |
Peyton Manning |
QB2 |
Colin Kaepernick |
QB3 |
Derek Carr |
QB4 |
Marcus Mariota |
One of the big names for this season and 3 young starters to take over when he finally retires, this is probably a reasonable situation to be in. Now I have never been a Kaep fan, but this has to be the year he steps up, the defense is weaker, Gore is gone and the WRs look useful (For once). If he doesn't step up expect them to look for an Alex Smith like game manager to take over. Derek Carr looks like the future in Oakland, maybe that organisation can turn itself around. And Mariota has a shot to be the best QB in his class with a huge new offense in Tennessee, I'm holding off on him though, but chances are for the Fairies with 3 young QBs they have a great chance one of them will be a solid Top 10 in the future.
RB1 |
Alfred Morris |
RB2 |
Toby Gerhart |
RB3 |
Ryan Mathews |
RB4 |
Maurice Jones-Drew |
RB5 |
Trent Richardson |
RB6 |
Knowshon Moreno |
RB7 |
David Johnson |
I expect Fairies to be working on a clean-up or trade work with their RB roster as MJD has retired, Moreno is a free agent, TRich us probably battling for a roster spot in Oakland behind L.Murray & R.Helu, Gerhart now has a fight for his job against TJ Yeldon (And the 5 other RBs in Jacksonville). You almost have to think that Morris is the safest bet here, I can't see him losing his job this season (Next year is questionable whether he gets an extension), and David Johnson will get some time to keep Ellington rested in Arizona as well. Mathews will have a good shot if Murray goes down in Philly, but at this point I am not sure I want either Eagles back.
WR1 |
Demaryius Thomas |
WR2 |
DeSean Jackson |
WR3 |
Anquan Boldin |
WR4 |
Torrey Smith |
WR5 |
Eddie Royal |
WR6 |
Andre Roberts |
WR7 |
Chris Hogan |
WR8 |
Derek Hagan |
WR9 |
Kamar Aiken |
WR10 |
DeAndre Smelter |
WR11 |
Rashad Greene |
WR12 |
Antwan Goodley |
Quite a difference here between the starting four and the rest of the names, Thomas, Jackson, Boldin & T.Smith will be great WR options this season once again, I'd say 3 of the 4 will be in the top 30 WRs for this season, Thomas & Jackson for sure (Probably Top 20), and then one of the two in San Francisco, just depends if Kaepernick can deliver enough balls to get 2 of them up there really. Royal & Roberts have both droped to return specialist type positions for their team which sucks a bit for both of them, but neither of them really kicked on as WRs and woul;d need someone to go down on the roster (But at least they are guaranteed rster spots. Hogan & Hagan both had moves in the offseason hurt them as they end up in major depth chart issues in Tennessee & Buffalo, both will hope to break out in training camps, otherwise could be without teams come preseason. Kamar Aiken is in a similar position in Baltimore, but is a bit closer to a role with a likely battle with Darren Waller for the 4th WR spot there. The last three are rookies, Smelter in San Fran is curremtly listed as WR5, but should be able to move past Patton and/or Ellington in the preseason, Greene is in Jacksonville, and will need to beat out Hurns or Copeland to make the roster, but I expect him to have a good shot in that offense if it works out, Goodleyhas been selected by the Dallas Cowboys, he is a long way from a roster spot, but something to watch going forward.
TE1 |
Delanie Walker |
TE2 |
Greg Olsen |
TE3 |
Martellus Bennett |
TE4 |
Coby Fleener
|
Quite a strong position for the fairies with 2 of the top 10 TEs in Bennett & Olsen who should continue in the top 10 this season, and two good young back-ups in Walker & Fleener who will be Top 20 options this season, but have a chance to grow stronger next year.
Draft - Starting with Mariota was a big call for the Fairies, especially given what could be perceived as weaknesses elsewhere in the team, but it should help cement their place at QB for the future. After that they took a very nice pick at RB in David Johnson, a solid WR in Smelter and two flyers in Greene & Goodley, if some of the risk pays off it could be a starting point to build from.
Conclusion - I see this team as a lower mid table team for this season that might need some help (At RB) to get up to mid table and if their RBs don't get game time they could fall into the 'relegation' battle, and going forward longterm they need some help in particular at RB, WR should be ok for a couple more seasons, and TE/QB have youngsters ready to take over.
