VDV out so Defoe up front with Ade (4-4-2).
Up against Stevenage this weekend. A match not to be taken lightly but should see Nelsen get a start (rest King for the next match).
TFC is such a great site. It's my happy place.
Just saw this on the 442 site twitter:
His work rate was not up to much but he had a gift that very few have-he knew where the back of the net was.A fantastic player.

So Pav out, Saha in.
Seb out, Nelsen in? Could be OK I suppose.
It could be good.
I have nto been followig it closely, but on the surface of things I think I would rather have Pav (Spurs' Pav, not the Nix's Pav) than Saha. But if Pav wants to go, or is unhappy or is costing too much and Saha is keen etc., then it could be okay...
Nelsen surprises me. If he gets fit, again, it could be good. But will he? I imagine they wouldn't take a punt that big without knowing more than I obviously do...

Doesn't pay to follow things too closely. Just see what happens in the last hour for Spurs, then hope that 'Arry works his 'triffic man-manager skills on the incoming.
Yeah suspect Harry had just enough of Pav's attitude, reports that he had a bust up with Kevin Bond last week. He's been with us for 3 years and hasnt bothered to speak English, and Harry has said in the past he's a poor trainer.
Nelly- interesting, obviously wants cover (given Gallas and Kings injury battles) but i thought he was in NZ looking to get advice from a NZ doc on his injured knee, so unless there's been a miracle cure, i can't see him playing much, and it's only till the end of the season.
From THFC point of view there doesn't seem much sense in loaning out Bassong to buy Nelsen, unless they are looking at a player who just wants to play, but THFC are a business, and that kind of sentiment, while nice, is ultimately irrelevant.
I see Harry quoted as saying we lost 3 today, Walker (groin), VDV (calf) and Ade(hammy), so that's doesn't look too good ahead of a trip to Liverpool..

that's rather damaging...

My Kiwi heart says it'd be awesome to see a Kiwi play Champions League, but my head wonders exactly how useful he would be to them. As far as centre backs go it's now King/Kaboul/Dawson/Gallas and then Nelsen.
I guess you need established players to have depth of squad (if you want to challenge both domestic and CL) and that's probably it - don't want to spend a heap on a 5th-string centreback but need someone who's not too green that you're afraid to play them when you need to rest the first team. Saw a good opportunity to get a talented veteran on the cheap and realised the value in it.

Yes, that's about right Ted, but given that 3 of those are injury prone and Kaboul's potential is now only being realised we may find Nelsen popping up in a cup game (against stevenage, rather than Barcelona) if he himself can show his fitness.
The six month clause might facilitate a Phoenix (please!) /USA move for 2012/3 season?HarryHotspur2012-02-01 17:13:27

Harry must know more about the state of Ryans knee than we do.
If he is/going to be fit sooner rather than later, then its a great aquisition imo.
Agreed, if he is fit soon then it's a good signing - with King & Gallas's injury worries, it's good to have a player/leader who will slot straight into the team, rather than Bassong's headless chicken impressions!! Dawson & Kaboul tend to do better with some experience beside them too...
With Nelsen vs Bassong/Corluka, and Saha vs Pav for that matter, I'd rather players who want to be here than those looking to move. With both probably playing for an extra year's contract too, it should mean they give their all - providing they can stay injury-free..........

Does anyone else feel a bit surprised/uncomfortable with all the newspaper and tv reports calling Spurs an "elite, major, or top four team?
Junior822012-02-02 16:04:31
Very unfamiliar and also we still have a long way to go so seems a bit premature to be using those terms.
Edit: "Glamour club" - that made me lol a lot.
admittedly that is quite good ^^
although i do enjoy that there had to be untouchables first to make the joke possible :)

I was quoting back WHL's misplaced banter from your match against Man City.
Though it must be said, Spurs did not give the Toon too much space...

Well played Stevenage, but 'Arry did himself no favours.
3-5-2. Kranjcar as a sub for Walker in the 81st min.
Hopefully the return leg won't affect either the tilt for top 4 EPL or the cup (we can do both this year!).

Henry Winter @henrywinter Happy Birthday Jimmy Greaves, 72. Relentless, ruthless finisher. Goalkeepers stood like condemned men as Greaves ran through...

Big game up next at the library. Some rousing TFC inspirational japery required;
Pretty nervous about this match. Last season I didn't have any fear. Now at the giddy heights of 3rd and facing a team of underwhelming, overpaid Wenger boys, I think we could actually come unstuck - NLDs are too hard to pick.
http://www.arsenaltottenham.com/ (needs a bit of an update re table positions and points)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_London_derby "With the passing of time and as a consequence of the ever mutating nature of the English language, the words "yid" and "yiddo" now only ever mean "Spurs fan" (or player) when used in the context of English football - even by fans of other teams. There is, however, still some controversy over the use of "yid" or "yiddo", especially for those who do not understand the positive origins of Spurs fans' use of the words"
To which I say: What a bunch of twunts.

What a game, 2-2 at half time.
