(The not-so-temporary quite-official) Gooner Thread (Part 2)
If selling Santi meant we got Vidal, what say you?
Maybe, maybe not
If it happened would want lots of Ox and Rosicky game time.
Santi has become a central midfielder for us in the last year and we are well stocked in that role.
I wonder if he were to go, perhaps we'd look to replace him with a wide forward instead?
We have Ramsey, Wilshere and the Ox who all play in the role Cazorla is in right now. If we didn't buy another CM and lost Santi then I reckon we'd best look for someone to play wide right. I think Walcott is going to be a central striker next season, and if Ox is moving centrally, then there is a spot there.
Reus? Draxler?
I don't want Santi to go but the Atletico rumours have never stopped, there must be something to it, he must simply be yearning to go back to Spain. If he went and we got in a top class winger then that would be ok.

I suppose on the back of last season nows the time to sell given his age. I'd be more appeased if Reus came in.

The Barca transfer ban - what's the fekkin point of that? As it stands he can't play until the 1st of Jan.
A brown paper envelope or two and - hey presto! - their ban will be lifted some time this summer...
Brown Bag? Didn't know Dirty 'Arry was involved.
I dont think we should sell Santi, he's too important for us. While Ramsey, Wilshere and Ox could fill in there but dont have the technical abilities to control game like Santi. I think we do need him for another year or 2 while ramsey and wilshere can start performing week in week out
Santi is our most consistently good player, as it stands. He was the fulcrum of everything good we did last season. Wouldn't want to see him go.
We are guaranteed a massive run in the Champions League as ESPN not covering here
Moan cry whinge....
For real?
No coverage in NZ at all?
tipping point for getting rid of sky may have finally approached
Are you serious? It's always been on ESPN. I can't seem to find any announcement about anything.
Still can't find that rumour anywhere, where did you hear it foal? Surely it's in high enough demand that someone else would pick it up if the rights were up for grabs. Can't believe Coliseum wouldn't be all over it. Would imagine they'd love to merge it with PLP and add a more expensive 'premium' subscription to get EPL and CL.

Football coverage here has turned to utter shark.
Thanks. Guess the best we can hope for is Coliseum try to do a deal with beIN. Probably the final nail in the coffin for Sky for me. Was already planning to try the free trials for Netflix/Lightbox with a view to possibly dumping Sky after the rugby world cup. Champions League would have been one of the few things left I'd be looking for an alternative source for and now looks like I'm going to have to do that anyway. Is there a suitable overseas online source for CL? It would need to have games on demand as well as live since they usually tend to be during morning work hours (eg. 7.30 or 8.30 kickoffs).
Sky will probably submit a low ball offer to Bein sports. If they take it cool, if they don't, I think that's the end of Sky for me too. I'd been planning to leave Sky for a while now for financial reasons, definitely no reason to hang on now.
ManU will be playing in champions league qualifiers next month, so I would expect any possible deal to be struck quite soon, we should know within a month one way or the other.

I asked my Wife, we pay $80/month for Sky. She then got PLP which was $200p.a.? So third provider for CL is going to piss me off as I already greatly dislike watching plp set up for Prem games.
Trouble with ditching Sky is Phoenix, NRL and the News channels.
Also why I am in whinge mode I feel Football, Golf and Tennis supporters really got Sky NZ up and running.
Now I feel these 3 sports have been margainilized.
Maybe my expectations where too high?
There is a legal online offering for NRL and A-League I believe, Patrick or Tegal on the coliseum thread have spoken about it. I am going to investigate that.
Although it will be messy with lots of separate bills, I think I'm going to ditch sky and go with a combo of;
- freeview
- free ondemand websites (TVNZ, TV3)
- netflix or lightbox or something similar, will have to research which one best suits our needs
- PLP
- this offering that has A-League and NRL, will need to research more there too
- dodgy streaming when necessary
There will still be rugby and cricket that I currently watch a lot of and won't be able to. Rugby is not such an issue as I have plenty of friends who watch it and there's always public establishments around showing games. Prime show delayed stuff as well.
Cricket will be a bit of an annoyance though, especially since NZC stupidly signed an 8 year deal with Sky.

You are thinking of https://www.foxsoccer2go.com/. They haven't confirmed the A-League for 15/16 season. Here is there 14/15 season coverage though:
Soccer: UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA European Qualifiers, FA Cup, Scottish Premier League, Scottish Championship, England Home Internationals, Hyundai A League, CONCACAF Champions League, CONCACAF Women's World Cup Qualifiers, CONCACAF U17s and U20s, and CONCACAF Gold Cup.
Rugby League: Stobart Super League, Internationals, National Rugby League
Aussie Rules: AFL Premiership
You'll need a VPN or something else that gets around the geo-blocking.
I use Hola a lot so will do that.
There is some risk though I guess. What if I pay for it, and then straight after they change the rules or something like that they did with that global mode?

Global mode was never tested in the courts. It was settled out of court. The position of the global mode advocates was that it was no different to parallel importing. At this stage no court has determined that it is illegal for personal use.
EDIT: I am not a lawyer
Hope Gnarby and Zelalem get game time in Singapore.
Main thing is no injuries if we play Stoke
Not going to lie...looks a bit strange in red!
Cech has taken no.33... interesting to say the least
He's tweeted a few things like "33 years old, 333 games in the premier league" and "hope to be spine of the team, 33 vertebrae in the spine".
Sounds like any good keeper should, a bit mental.
It is also the lowest repdigit odd number that is not a prime number
Jesus performed 33 miracles
It is the atomic number of arsenic
One of these is surely a good omen.

Ha ha. Think you should check the Bible. Is not 33.
if we are going to do more business it would be nice to get it completed before season starts BUT we all know its not the arsenal way.....we will be looking for a CDM or ST in the last 24hours of the window :(
Where have you heard that? Ive seen nothing about us lately in the transfer market
Sure....heres hoping this must be it ;-)
Some guy muzzi ozcan on twitter or something.
Apparently he already announced these signings before anyone else;
van Persie
Schneiderlin
Schweinsteiger
Sterling
Payet to Westham
Aldewereld to Sp*rs
And looking through his twitter feed he didn't seem to make any bogus claims in between.
He's now said that Arsenal are going to make a huge signing.
The way United are going there won't be anyone left in another week... but seriously, who are the SOS options?
- Benzema?
- De Rossi?
- Higuain?
- Klopp?
