Strange signing for mine....
The British Transfer Thread
Gives us something different. I will take it!
Yeah, a good signing IMO. Would have been a good plan 'B' vs the Bus Driver from London. I'd also like a strike option with a bit of height, but good purchases so far. Emre Can is all but done to Liverpool as well, fee and terms agreed and initial agreement in place, just waiting on final paperwork. The word is that it will be held back and announced July 1st (not sure why)
Also heard that Ian Ayre is in Spain for meeting at the moment. Either something to do with Suso going on loan to Sevilla again or the Moreno deal.
All bit transfer action seems to be around Chelsea (Alex, Costa) and Liverpool (Lambert, Can, Moreno) at the moment. Good early business.
What else is going on out there?
p.s. David Villa deal to play for both New York City FC & Melbourne City FC is an interesting one. More and more, some of these older, close to retirement players are getting an extra lifeline, very similar to the mercenary, but very entertaining way cricketers seem to finish their career with playing T20 in India, NZ, Aus, West Indies, UK etc...

Re Can: Leverkusen had to compensate Bayern for waiving their option. That's why the deal was held up
Come on, you would totally be happy with signing Villa. 32 and coming off a season of winning La Liga and being in the UCL final and in the Spanish WC squad. Villa or Rickie Lambert?

I'd take Villa in a heartbeat but he obviously is looking to secure his future by agreeing what must be a significant deal to become a marquee player for Man City interests across two continents. Don't blame him but it is a quite unique situation in Football terms.
In other stuff, Moreno to Liverpool looks 85% done now with medical set for next week.
What can you tell me about Emre Can Bullion?

I can't tell you any more than you can read online. Emre is a good player and annoyed that he is heading to LFC. Does play many positions well, not sure if that will stunt his development, with midfield being his best position. Was hoping that Bayern would take up their option.
All prices in pounds sterling - please note that I collect this information from a ton of sources and I'm just spitting them out, not commenting on whether they are correct, accurate or fantasy! Also, being a LFC fan, there will always be a heavy leaning toward rumours surrounding them
News of a Suarez bid from Real - news comes from a Melwood (LFC training ground) insider. The club are aware of an impending bid and that Real want this to be a quick process so will offer Gareth Bale sized money. Suarez clause for release is 102m and non-Champs League qualification.
Will LFC play hardball again OR cash in? Thoughts?
Other transfer news:
- Pogba to United for 60m & Muller for 25m
- Pepe to City for 25m
- QPR & Stoke want Barry
- Reina may return to Anfield with LFC and Napoli unable to agree on a fee
- Barkley has told Flannigan he would love a move to LFC and in response, LFC are ready to test Everton's resolve with a 30m bid
Would love to see Pepe in the Premier League, the more pantomime villains the better.

A Premier League with Balotelli, Suarez, Pepe & Joey Barton coming up? MAAAGIC!
And a Diving Dani Alves...?!

Pretty sure you're taking the piss here - hands off!!
lol - no way would a born and raised everton lad jump ship to the reds or visa versa... and no way would kenwright ok the move.
Lambert - why go to Liverpool.
He will be behind Sturridge and Saurez. Nothing but pine and nothing games.

Spurs agree a deal in principle to sign Loic Remy
Queens Park Rangers Loic Remy has been linked with a move to both Arsenal and Tottenham recently and the latest revelation concerning the French international makes his future even harder to predict.
Remy, who ended the 2013/14 campaign on loan at Newcastle, favours a move to the Emirates according to Goal.com but is likely to have more talks with Tottenham Hotspur shortly.
Remy interested in Arsenal
The White Hart Lane outfit are ready to pay the £9 million buyout clause in the QPR mans contract but the reliable Greg Stobart believes the Frenchman will hold out from any move until after the World Cup.
It seems Spurs have been linked with Remy for years and in fact, they have. When the 27-year-old was at Marseille he was heavily muted to be moving across the shores to north London but the transfer never materialised.
Instead, he ended up in west London with QPR but is now almost certain to depart the Loftus Road club.
Spurs remain confident
Goal.com believe Tottenham are confident of securing Remy on a four-year contract once his time with the French squad has finished, as he is currently set to feature in the World Cup with France.
The French international has apparently been impressed by the ambition Spurs have shown and feels they will once again challenge for Champions League football next season.
However, Remy is after a team that is currently competing in the Champions League and therefore would prefer a move to the Emirates, not White Hart Lane.
Whilst Tottenham can’t realistically push through a transfer before the World Cup it leaves the club in a tricky situation. Though they have agreed a deal in principle, if Arsenal bid for Remy, the Frenchman will apparently almost certainly move there.
Stick or twist?
Should Mauricio Pochettino wait for Remy or should Spurs cut their ties with a player that has apparently set his heart on joining a Champions League club and, even worst, their bitterest rivals?
It is a tough one for Tottenham as Remy is an immensely talented player and he has demonstrated as such in his spells in the Premier League with QPR and Newcastle.
The decision will be down to Pochettino & co and with the former Saints boss seemingly keen on the 27-year-old, maybe the club will wait and hope to convince another player to snub the Emirates for White Hart Lane.

QPR MOVE AHEAD OF ARSENAL FOR TOULOUSE FULLBACK SERGE AURIER
Submitted by tribalfootball.com
QPR have made a move for Toulouse fullback Serge Aurier.
Aurier has talked up the prospect of joining Arsenal since the end of last season. However, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has pulled back from negotiations for the defender.
Now, the Daily Star says QPR have stepped in and hope to thrash out terms with Toulouse over a fee for right- back Aurier.
Lambert - why go to Liverpool.

1) He won't get a game? With Premier League games, Champs League, FA Cup and League Cup? You must be kidding.
2) Even if it he was a bench rider who saw 10 starts and 25 overall appearances a season, it's his boyhood club and where he has always dreamed of playing. Please note that there are still some players out there who aren't ALL about the money.

I seem to remember 3 Everton fans doing pretty well for Liverpool...Gerrard & Rush
...and by the way, I have noted at several points that I'm basically regurgitating Football headlines from some of the better websites/papers and some online research from Twitter (usually agents or club insiders) and fan site forums.
Knickers un-twisted yet?

however I'm sure he will get a big payrise over his Saints contract so it kind of is about the money.

A few rumours from my Twitter/Fansite Sweeping...
- Moreno deal with Liverpool looks like it is falling over and focus has shifted to Lovren who has tabled a transfer request.
- Liverpool still also have an interest in Christian Tello
- Canavani to Man Yoo for 56m
- Jake Livermore to move to Palace from Spurs
- Brendan Rodgers & Roverto Martinez have been suggested to take over the England reins from Woy.
- Arsenal after Colombian striker Jackson Martinez for 30m
- West Ham chasing
Stuart Little...opps... Micha Richards
cesc confirms Chelsea cash
Cesc quote after confirming signing for Chelsea.
"I considered all the other offers very carefully and I firmly believe that Chelsea is the best choice," he said.
Not really bouncing out of his skin with excitment huh?

Just another addition to their barn of underachieving super stars.

Captaining Arsenal, a triumphant return to boyhood club, only to get forced out of the door and end up at Chelsea would probably make even the most optimistic of people struggle.
What is the inside word on why Arsenal didn't take him?
No inside word really but it was debated at length on the Arsenal thread.
I guess the obvious reasoning is that we already have world class options in Ozil and Ramsey to start in the two possible positions he could play, as well as plenty of players who are either up-and-comers or solid back-up for those spots. E.g. Cazorla, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Wilshere, Rosicky, Zelalem, Diaby*.
I would've loved him to come back but I guess Wenger sees 30mil as a bit steep just for a 'nice to have'. Understandable but still crushing for a fan like myself.
* just kidding

Makes sense. People forget that just because someone is a top player, there are plenty of reasons why you don't need them at a given time. You would hope that Ozil improves though or Fabregas may seem like a missed opportunity.
The transfer discussions seem to have cooled since the Wold Cup started but here's a few...
LFC Specific
- Micha Richards in for 7m
- Dele Alli from MK Dons subject to a bid from LFC
- 27m bid for Alexis Sanchez upped from an initial bid of 18m (what an increase!!)
- Talks with Napoli have re-opened re: Reina and could also include Agger
...and the REST
- Radamel Falcao to Arsenal for 48m (at 28 years old?!!?)
- Vermaelen to Man Yoo (deal is aggree in principle apparently)
...surely someone must have some more rumours?!
Joelon Lescott signs for WBA
Suarez will be part of a bidding war between Barca & Real. Barca willing to make Sanchez part of the deal. Apparently there are rumours of a $69m clause, but if this existed in reality, it would be subject to Liverpool failing to make CL.
I would think that any team who wants him at the moment would have to be willing to stump up a deal worth $100m+ (possibly cash+player?). I don't see it happening but his agents are apparently still checking of any interest due to the huge offers likely for sales price and wages on offer.
- Sneidjer wants a move to Man Yoo (maybe you should have done that a few years ago fella!)
- Real Madrid want Raheem Sterling
- Negredo wants to move from City to Athletico
- Sami Khedira to Chelsea
The question remains though, why would Liverpool sell the reigning player of the year, the form striker at the WC and the single reason why they are back in Champions League. For $100m?
See Tottenham for how that plays out...
I don't believe for one second that unless Suarez has another brain explosion, that Liverpool are selling him any time soon.

I agree but it will depend on a couple of things. 1) What his contract says and if he wants to leave. His wife's family, who are basically his family live in Spain and there is a draw there, plus, it's Barca and Real who don't come knocking that often. From Liverpool's point of view some people would say $100m for a 27 year ol, bite their hand off (excuse the turn of phrase) and then spend the $100m to strengthen and deepen the squad.
Again, I don't think he WILL or SHOULD go, but there's quite a few ingredients to this transfer pudding.
As a Liverpool fan, I am very sceptical of Suarez motives. I would LOVE him to stay but am pretty sure he would jump as soon as the opportunity arose. I hope i'm wrong though.
Or add quality players around Suarez and hope to win something big with him in the team? Seems he has had the chance to leave before (not just Arsenal) and hasn't?
If he goes to Real Madrid or Barcelona would he be lauded as 'THE MAN' like he is at Liverpool? I doubt that very much. Besides, look at how Ronaldo took to Bale......

Regardless, Bale now has a CL medal.

I've often wondered about this....Do you think he would care? I think of Torres in the same light. He was idolised at Liverpool and treated with half the respect at Chelsea.
"Well kids, I played some of the best football of my generation, I was the best player at my club - which used to be great... though I didn't actually win anything..."
or would you rather say...
"well, if I recall correctly - and I do... three BPL.s, two FA Cups, and one European Champions League. Oh, and I was also the PFA player of the year twice and European player of the year once.Plus a few charity shields and other minor stuff."
i don;t think moving will guarantee anything. Liverpool have as much chance of winning a major trophy now as Barca or Real do. If he just wants trophies, his agents should be door knocking at Bayern or PSG.
