To me, "bossing" means being far and away the better team and executing the gameplan to perfection, completely nullifying any threat they may have posed.

Each to their own I guess!

I would disagree that that is what happened, but yes each to their own, enjoy the many 32% possession "bossings" that Mourinho delivers, if that's your thing.

Its far better than the 70% posession "bossing" we did under LVG

I would rather win playing the way we did against Liverpool that having 70% possession, tip tap fantastic football but losing.

People that would not, are lying.

Exactly. I'd much rather be 2nd and playing ugly football (although I don't think our football is as bad as anyone is making out - we are far more watchable than under Moyes and LVG, and Fergie played negative football when required as well) than sitting in 4th and holding the moral high ground

Totally agree.

I don't really disagree with any of you on the situations you're describing. I would rather win than lose beautifully as well.

I'm purely debating the term "bossing" when referring to wins in that kind of style, that's all. Mourinho did this with Porto etc too, and no one said Porto bossed anybody when they won the Champions League. They still won it though.

I'd say Man City right now are properly "bossing" games when they win them.

What you guys are describing, I'd just call winning.

Watched the Milan game this morning. What a disgraceful bit of cheating and appalling refereeing for the penalty.

Very disappointed in DW.

What's going on with Ibrahimovic?

Out injured since December, but rumours online that he's absolutely fine, and that his relationship with Mourinho has gone cold and he's been frozen out.

What have you guys heard?

Not that you need him with Lukaku fit and doing well enough (good numbers for this season), but does seem like this one is going under the radar.

Football rumours are becoming less and less likely to be true these days, and the fact that he came back too early from the massive knee injury at the end of last season probably means it is more likely that he is just injured.

His relationship with Jose has always been good, and I am not sure that would change right now.

There are larger issues at hand anyways. Like players taking responsibility and learning from game to game.

Ibrahimovic needs to call it a day and should never play for United again on merit. Too slow to have any impact. Same reason we got rid of Rooney. At least Rooney wasn't as greedy.

Adrian Mutu quoted 2 days ago:

"I know for a fact that Ibrahimovic is not injured," he told Telekom Sport. "His relationship with [Jose] Mourinho is very cold, that is why he is not playing at the moment."

He could be lying, he's obviously not an admirer of Mourinho, but it's interesting that he said that, and it's not been publicly refuted by Zlatan or anyone else so far.

Amazing how quick the knee jerks after completely bossing Liverpool 3 days earlier.

What did you guys make of his after-match comments? Seemed a very bizarre way to deal with it.

That he thinks Mourinho is bigger than United... to be fair he's always had this whole "take the conversation off the players thing"... probably what he's doing here too.

I would disagree. Throughout his career he's had absolutely no problem throwing his players under the bus when it suits him (excuse the pun!).

That's why I always wonder when he makes comments like that, what is the motivation? He's very calculated with these things.

Just thought you might be interested and what I was basing my comments off, this summary is from Ozil's new book:

Ozil says Jose makes outrageous statements in the media after a loss deliberately, he knows media will mock him for ages over those and that's what the headlines will be dedicated to for the next few weeks and not on the players who would have otherwise been in the headlines for the performance. He sacrifices his dignity to protect the players.

He says Jose is a chilled guy, he doesn't have any rules in the dressing room, you can go out, party, text, call in the dressing room, turn up late to training, as long as you give 200 percent on the pitch, it doesn't matter to him. But he will abuse and insult you horribly in front of other players if he felt you are slacking and not living up to your potential.

Luke Shaw has not produced anything since his injury. He has wandered around overweight and he has looked disinterested. He has not shown me any reason why he should be first choice. Young is not my favourite but at least he gives 100%

We should sell Shaw ASAP

I'm not trying to say you are wrong but you specifically mentioned his post match comments which he said some bonkers things which pointed the heat at him, instead of the players.

Contrast that to a game we have won and he's now chosen to call out Luke Shaw. They're different situations.

Zlatan off.

He had a couple of good games but always felt that he halted the development progress of the team and was generally too slow. With that in mind I'm happy to see him go.

It was always going to be hard for a 36 year old to come back from an ACL. I'm happy we signed him and happy we got to see such an amazing and unique player in the Premier League. Good luck to him in wherever he ends up (I'm hearing MLS?)

Apparently he might be playing for the Galaxy as soon as March 31 if the paperwork is all sorted, so the rumours and the Mutu quote may well have had some factual basis?

This whole rhetoric around Zlatan, purely because he's Zlatan, is exactly why I don't like  Zlatan.

He was an ageing impact striker at best. Like Fellaini, his presence is symbolic of the mediocrity of the previous years.

His achievements here won't even register compared to some of the truly great strikers that have played at United.

Bye bye.

This is obviously your opinion and not that of Utd, as the facts speak for themselves. He was always going to be a stop gap.

On the basis of rhetoric then, one could say the same about Pobga. He has not looked anything like the hype that has been given. Too interested in himself, instagram his hair etc. Behaving like a spoilt brat instead of knuckling down and doing what he is paid to do.Also been dropped by France.

Ahh nice thought.....I'm going to the Friends Arena in Stockholm on Saturday to watch Sweden v Chile. Having "endured" the Phoenix this season I'm looking forward to "enjoying" a proper game, in a proper stadium , with proper fans & atmosphere ;-)

Thought I'd may as well continue in this thread (rather than alternative Phoenix stadium) because the game featured some great players - as well as Lindelof & Sanchez of United ;-)

Roof Closed....Tick

Study Team Sheet....Tick

Study warm-up......Tick

Lights out - phones on .....Tick

Chile fans in good voice...Tick

Enjoyed the game. Some good football & goals.

One campaign, 30 goals, without him you'd have been in all sorts of sh*t last season, but it's the big "f*ck off don't let the door hit you on the way out" treatment when he goes. Nice work mate.

Yet no one else was lining up to sign him?

As I say, facts ignore potential. For every goal he scored how many were squandered because he was slow as fudge? Because he couldn't make a single run to create space for someone else? Etc etc

I don't mean to be as harsh as my post reads, he had a good season, sure, but I believe it was at the price of other (potentially better) players (or signing an actual replacement) and dealing with the real problems at United.

Not looking good for Ray Wilkins who is in a coma after a major heart attack last night:

https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/football/world-game/...

He had a double heart bypass last year.

One of my favourite players when I was a teenager following Man Utd in the early 1980's

He used to turn up as a pundit on Radio Sport some years ago (I think there was some family connection to NZ such as his brother played here?) - it was cool having a major figure like that bothering to talk football on the radio in NZ.

Actually think they game was quite a good reflection of the state of United right now.

Good going forward, got quality and depth. But the defence needs a refresh.

While there are moments that Smalling, Valencia and Young are good, they are too inconsistent to be starting games like this. Wish Shaw would get his act together. TFM to come in at right back and Smalling / Jones to be replaced by Tuanzebe in the regular squad. Blind probably out too, even though I thought he could still be useful.
