Very low risk. I don't rate him much at all - he's like a D-Grade Sanchez - but if he's shark you don't lose a whole lot. Adds to your squad depth.
Liverpool Thread - Premier League Champions* 2019/20
If someone can get him consistently performing he'd be great.
Awesome for squad depth. Probably be a good threat off the bench late in games.
- Brewster re-signs with Liverpool. For him to do this with interest from German and French clubs, he must have had some assurances over first team chances
- Alisson to LFC picking up steam. 65m quid is the rumour.
- Fekir deal still on.
If we get Fekir and Alisson, are we happy LFC fans? Remember, we have the best CB in the world and VVD as well haha
Surely you'd have to be happy with that. Hell you should be happy just if you get Allison! Key upgrade there...

I honestly can't say I've seen enough of Alisson to really judge but he seems to be in that top 10 keepers bracket which is what we need.
Alisson would be the first shot you've had at replacing Reina properly right?

No matter how Allsson goes, he'd be an improvement.

Possibly - Mingolet was never going to be good enough. Karius I had great hope for after he was rated the 2nd best keeper in the Bundesliga two year ago behind Neuer but that doesn't seem like it will pan out.
- Alisson looks to be all but done.
- Fekir deal may now not happen and LFC have all but finished their business other than offloading some players to take thir squad down from 40
- Ox out for the whole season - the injury vs Roma was both cruciate ligaments (and something else I can't remember). LFC have known the extent of the injury for a long time but Ox didn't want to share with the team until after their CL campaign was over - feel bad for him, had hit some good form, fans have instantly taken to him and he appears to be a super-positive influence around the club.
That is awful news for the OX :(
There was a story on Alisson transfer to Liverpool on TV3's breakfast show this morning. As they were talking about the amount of money involved, there was footage of Alisson training, and not being able to cleanly hold a straightforward warm up shot straight at him. Not sure if it was a delibarate stitch-up by the editors, or just coincidence, but it was a good lol.
3rd time for the Ox in his career. Poor lad.
Hate to admit it but I am reasonably jealous in the transfer business you guys have done compared to Arsenal and the squad you already had.
Maybe this year WILL be your year. We'll be lucky again to get 6th.

Twitter is gold right now - Arsenal fans are all being very relaxed about the LFC news, Manc fans are worried because of their own lack of transfers but Citeh fans are going absolutely feral about it.
HOLY CRAP! MARKOVIC JUST SCORED A GOAL FOR LIVERPOOL!
WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON???!??!

I guess for Arsenal fans this season it's less about our rivals and more about what we're doing ourselves. It's refreshing and interesting following the pre-season goings-on, which has been given a lot more media exposure under Emery, and looking for how we're doing things differently etc. Whereas in the past we sort of knew what to expect with Wenger in the coming season, we wouldn't pay much attention, so we were looking outwardly a bit more at what others were getting up to.

I don't even think we see you as direct rivals currently. In my estimation, City and Liverpool challenging for the title with Man Utd likely also doing so, with Chelsea/Arsenal/Spuds competing for 4th.,

If you're setting odds on things I'd say 100% correct. However as we all know,it usually never works out exactly how we think.
Someone will surprisingly challenge, and someone will surprisingly flop.
Arsenal and Chelsea are probably the big question marks. Could be successful, could totally capitulate.
Same with ManU to some degree. Their season might depend on their new signings. Mourinho tends to ride a fine line between success and implosion, and this is his third season there, traditionally his bad season at his previous clubs. I suspect some world cup hangover for Pogba, and perhaps Lukaku, but probably a big season from Sanchez now that he's settled and had a rest in the off-season, so who knows how they will go.
ManC might suffer from some world cup hangover too, I would be surprised if they get as many points as last season, but I would still have them as huge favourites.
I think Spurs will be the same as ever under Poch, and where they finish will depend on how well the rest of the "big 6" fare this season.
Liverpool, despite the feelings of success last season, actually need a lot of improvement in terms of consistency in my opinion. On their day they are great, but they need more days. 4th really isn't good enough for Klopp now that he's settled and has effectively completed the building of a very good squad. I would say they need to seriously challenge for the title this season, and perhaps nab an FA or League Cup to satisfy the trophy cravings, or questions should be asked.
So...what's our starting line-up and bench if everyone is fit and in form? Ox excluded of course.
Alisson
Trent A-A VVD Lovren Robertson
Fabinho
Hendo Keita
Salah Mane
Firmino
Bench: Karius, Milner, Wijnaldum, Lallana, Klavan, Sturridge, Shaqiri, Clyne
Ozil retires from international football in the wake of the political commentary re his meeting with President Erdoğan.
Where are we at with keepers do you think?
Allisson is obviously #1
Mingolet won't stick around as second fiddle
Karius's nerves are shot - another very poor error today vs Dortmund in the pre-season game.
Ward is already at LCFC.
Do we go for a number 2? Stick with Karius? Look to the academy?
Thoughts?
Stick with Karius but keep an eye out for an old experienced keeper who has come to terms with not being number one and who we could pick up on a free (or very cheap). Tim Krul?
Joe Hart ;)
OSPINA!!!
Bring back Reina!
What a goal by Shaq
Great way to debut. Hope to see more things like this from him during the season
So pumped for the league
Ok...I’ll bite. Top of the league!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Klavan and Grujic gone, surely Markovic is next? Nice to carry an appropriate size squad.
Liverpool were very average, they got lucky they had an incompetant/crokoked ref
?? That you Roy?

Has Gomez overtaken Matip in your CB stable? Where is Lovren? Still not fit from the World Cup?

Lovren is nursing a stomach injury which he carried through the back half of last season. Bit weird though as he's also been called up for Croatia's upcoming matches.
Matip is just back from injury sustained in preseason. Suspect he may have played on Monday had Gomez not played well in the first game of the season. Will be interesting to see what happens from here.

I’m picking Matip will be 4th choice behind Gomez.
Anyone else stoked with our Champions League and League Cup draws? A couple of years ago I would have preferred to have the easiest draw possible, now I can’t wait for the games against big teams and think the more the merrier. Salah, Mane and Firmino vs Neymar, Mbappe and Cavani, I am absolutely fizzing for that one!
Isn’t it great to be back amongst the big names and feel confid
My only concern is that Neymar may ruin the game
Massive game tonight....can we redeem our 4-1
