Another geographically challenged person here. But I think it is still fantastic that this thread/event exists.
Good stuff, and would love to be there, but will be on the other side of the world - in fact plan to be catching Marco at Fürth on that very day (morning) all going well. I can also check out the latest chants in the Bundesliga as hope to get to a few matches while in that neck of the woods.
Desperately need more variety. But keep it simple. That is all. Applause.
Bwtcf, different idea. Get to the pub early, take ale, join in. Do you really think people here should have to do a survey? This is a football club
That's probably fair, but at the same time I think towards the back end of last season, some of us were struggling to 'get geed up' for the games given what we'd seen on the pitch for the past 2 seasons. Probably not the way it should be, but I think it had an effect. I also thought that for Football United the zone was spread out a lot more and it made it tougher to get anything going.
Hopefully with better play on the pitch we might get a bit more vocal. "We only sing when we're winning"
Absolutely, chanting should be fun. When your team is gash, it's hard to get into it.
Depends on what the spirit is. Refer you to the Whisky thread!!
As for starting a chant, over in Aisle 12 one feels a right tool when starting up to find you singing along. But then shit happens and I don't give a fuck as at least I give it a try. I think with this squad and potential, we should all feel motivated to do a bit more for the team so to speak.
For a simple tune, try the openning bars of "Slice of Heaven", no one can screw that up surely? Replace the term "Heaven" with "Phoenix"
A couple of observations since we started.
I cannot understand why we never adopted a so called signature tune dosnt matter if its Ring of fire or some Kiwi tune that Joe Blogs attending his first game would be able to sing along to.Seems that some dont like this kiwi artist or that tune.If the YF had been involved in West Ham there is no way Blowing Bubbles would have ever been used.Yet we attempt the theme song from an aussie soap.
As someone stated above it mostly needs to be kept simple to get others involved.
Also over the years there has always been moaning from some about songs being sung out of tune a sure way to turn people off from attempting to participate, like many on here i sound like like Elvis in my shower and in the car but for some reason that just disappears when i get to the stadium i just dont understand it.
For this to really work i think people need to remember that this isnt a UK crowd we are trying to involve in the game and to get this really going we need to subscribe to the KISS method.
Finally it has been brought up a number of times but is there any way the music can be stopped at the stadium as the teams walk out its crazy we are trying to get the crowd going and the bloody music blares out.Have heard it said that its an A league thing, yet as the West Ham fans started to get going as the teams ran out we got the FKN music blaring again.

3 good points in here that I totally agree with:
Theme tune - we have been pushing Phoenix City by the Skattelites for quite a while. Phoenix haven't been into it. It hasn't been us not being keen. Good idea to revisit though, and I agree we should pick something and stick to it.
Simplicity - I agree we need to avoid complex chants, sort of. The odd complex one can be amusing, but won't catch on widely.
Stupid music walking out - this is something I can take up with the club (again) and see where it gets us. Their view has previously been "yeah but it's A League wide and you guys don't always chant so music is better than silence." So it's a bit of pressure on us to turn up and make noise.
I must admit I dislike that Phoenix City song as much as it is a good idea.

Trololol? Or are you demonstrating the nitpicking that balane was talking about?
Phoenix City and or 'club anthem' that "Joe Blogs attending his first game would be able to sing along to" surely two different things.
Room for both.
West Ham fans singing "Twist and Shout" good example of the kind of song that works. Big fan of "Can't help falling in love with you" FWIW. Will follow proceedings with interest (being unable to make it).
Capos, megaphones and drums

Dont think the club can use that as an excuse,i stand to be corrected but cant seem to recall a game at the stadium which hasnt had loud music blaring at the start. In fact in some instances it has started after we have started to chant.
Ballane you have brought up one of my bug bears. The loud friggen music. I would rather stand in silence than being deafened by that shit. I raise this everytime I get on my other two hobby horses, food and the fun police...errr, Red badge. At long last others are starting to voice their opinions. Good to see. Mr Dome please take note. I am not alone after all in complaining about the music.
I think the players would rather run out to the roar of fans than zmfms shit music, even if they are a sponsor. So too is Newstalk ZB, lets listen to talkback instead. As for a theme song, what about a theme music instead. Like Axel F for example from Beverley Hills Cop. We can all do the do do do type tune without screwing the words up.
Kate Bush's "Wow" or "Running up that hill"
Johnny Cash, Ring of Fire
Sounds like a good plan. I'm in.
Complex chants are not hard learn, if you want to learn them.
Look at how the RBB get very complex chants going, week after week. They use, facebook, Twitter, soundcloud & YouTube to let everyone know what the new chants are. The active supporters are expected to learn them! If they don't, they get moved on. I'm sure nobody wants this to happen in the fever zone, so it's down to the individuals to make the effort to learn them.
i'm for putting new chants online

I am too.
The real question(s) are:
1. In what format? Is written text enough, or do demonstrative Youtube videos get more uptake?
2. How do we achieve poeple in the crowd actually referring to where they are put. Just putting them on line does not achieve more people joining in if the location and format that they are put online in does not provide ease of access, visibility and reult in people actually referring to the resource you create.
Sounds like a good plan. I'm in.

The part I have highlighted in bold is the key part of this to me. Just typing words in a forum few people visit is not goig to be effective. We need to do more than that.
We need to make (somehow) the people and the chants come together. We should have no preconceptions or religious opinions about how to do this. Whatever works should be used.
Hi all
Gonna be my first season as a season ticket having moved over from Nelson - Previously would grab a few games a season so looking forward to getting involved with the YF crew.
Having spent 15 years on the terraces of a team languishing in the lower depths of English football (Who coincidentally upon my leaving the UK decided to get a Russian millionaire and become good! Sod's law), my feedback is having songs with multiple lines/verses is always going to be a struggle to gain mass involvement.
Yes, the lengthier Phoenix songs are clever but keeping it super simple will win the numbers game.
Having simple songs for a large number of players is good too.
For example, here's one for the safe handed one taken from the day's where we had a keeper called Neil Moss:
Glen, Moss, Moss, Moss
Glen, Moss, Moss, Moss
Glen, Moss, Moss, Moss
(Chanted while moving both hands from left to middle to right on the word Moss - Gets everyone involved, including kids and also looks good in the stands)
Or:
Super, Super Ben,
Super, Super Ben,
Super, Super Ben,
Super Benny Sigmund!
(From this:

Haha, or my personal favourite:
Ernie Merrick's having a party,
Bring your vodka and bacardi!
(Repeated)
There endeth Choir Practice for today - See you in the stands!
OR we could change the tune to the one that the majority of people use instead of sitting back all snobbishly and scoffing that they're doing it wrong.
I don't really care what tune it ends up in as long as people are joining in and its loud.
We're football fans, not a choir.
At the West Ham game it sounded more like a Barbers Quartet!

I'm gonna stop you right there, because Barbershop quartets can sound effing amazing.
Tee Hee. This thread is actually inspiring me to make a better effort this season. All those over in Ailse 11,12, 13 feel free to join in. Let's make it happen!

Bump.
Any chance this season Fever tees will be unveiled at this event?
That would be a good idea - I think we can probably sort that out.
Not sure i can make it so thought i would post this here.
With many people having access to the internet via mobile devices these days.Would there be any way of getting the stadium to flash up on the big screen before the game at halftime or even if there is a chance during the game a site or sites where people at the stadium can see these.
Would save on Frankie having to pay to print song books.

Yes indeed - we're working on getting chants into the app so they can be got at via a phone.
Good idea to get the Nix to promo that on the screen, I will fire that at them.

THAT really is a good idea.
And the more ways we can make them available to the great fan base the better...
A section/tab on the yellow fever website for chants.
A section in the App.
An album in a Facebook page...
etc.
The idea is to give them their own section on the site, just like Podcasts has their own.
Things we could also implement - push notifications to phones when a new chant is added, this way we could come up with a chant as late as at the Bencher beforehand, add it to the app and everyone will be able to look at it ready for the game.

Can someone closer to the time get in touch with the BB and let them know if its going to be a large group. Need to know if we will have to throw a dedicated person on the back bar for Sun brunch.
Patrick, we gonna have live video coverage via the net on the 18th? Podcast "video live" so to speak.

Hey Uber. We've got about 10 locked in so far. I can't see it being more than 20, but could be no more than ten.
