galbraith left hamilton wanderers. has he now left waitak too?
Waitakere United
Shouldn't be too much competition for the unfair play award this season...
Quite remarkable to think that we used 30 different players last season, and only 6 of them are listed here...Eder Franchini Pasten, Ryan Cain, Dylan Manickum, Jake Butler, Tom Shaw and Jake Porter...that's a hell of a squad turnover.
Then again, given how well last season went, 6 might be a couple too many!
Thats almost headcase united. Just need Sam O'Reagan and they are set.
Seeing as I'm probably one of the few overseas supporters (and fan in general) this club has, I thought it only seems right to show some forum love.
A mighty game against Southern tomorrow. I think this might be a close game but expect Waitak to clinch it.

Thought you would support City with your Hajduk badge.

As I'm from West Auckland I'd feel pretty guilty supporting a team just for their success, even for their Croatian roots. It would be like being a Man Utd supporter then changing to Man City.
I must admit, Waitak's overall marketing is pretty useless. If they had an online shop or easy to buy gear I'd get some to wear here in Australia.
Game against Southern ended 2-2.
Someone should let the Waitakere keeper that being overly aggressive and generally using foul languages towards ball kids isn't acceptable when your name is Joe Hart and definitely isn't acceptable when you're some no name in the NZFC.
didn't see that - when did that happen?
Hugely important game for us this weekend - delighted to finally be back at Trusts after years in exile at Fred Taylor.
I don't think I've ever experienced a top-flight match quite as low key as the Southern United home game - there can't have been many more than 100 people there, so unless the return to Henderson can generate some more interest and buy-in from the west Auckland public, it's hard to see how we will not be left behind by much of the rest of the league (to be honest I get the feeling we already have been).
Have to agree with Jtmol3 about the club's marketing, or lack thereof. The new website is already weeks out of date and although it mentions "5 Championships, 5 Premierships, 2 OFC Champions Leagues" there is no information about any of them - it's almost as though we're a new team for this season!
300 crowd perhaps. Winning programme number was 60 something .

They also seem to have the weakest social media game of any club. Trying to find updates from yesterdays game while at the WeeNix game was incredibly frustrating.

Ouch, sacking Brian Shelley has cost the club $10,000!
Wonder what trust paid that.

I've accepted that football was immune from usual employment standards and workers rights.
Perhaps this is being revised.
"The win, draw or lose nature of football games does bring a team's performance into sharp relief," its decision said. "However, equally there is more to a team's performance than just the coach."
Sack them all!

if it's good enough for the Nix..
looking at their financials - they seem to be rather cash strapped?
If you go back on this thread a few pages back, everything you read is a complain about him, the style of play, lack of results or fudgeing loosing to WaiBOP 5-0.

$84k on hand at the end of their last Annual Report period.

June 2016? I don't think so

Try again.
I have to say that looking at their financial statements is rather eye-opening for someone down in Dunedin...
Where are these financial statments?
Where are these financial statments?
On the Companies Office register for Incorporated Societies, they're required to be uploaded each year.

Oops, I rushed in.
A, that was total assets
B, that was a year ago
C, eek.
NZ Football obviously set a pretty l9w bar when the review was done last year.
How long will Waitak survive unless a major turnaround happens this year ?
Birko?
bit of a fail to fall foul of the dismissal process when they drop big cash on 'consultants'

Birko?
At least they would have decent crowds - probably the biggest in the league!
is there somewhere I can sign up for compensation for the "humiliation, loss of dignity and injury to feelings" caused to me by Waitakere's performances under Shelley? ;)
Part of me does wonder whether we're not far away from a swapping of the west Auckland franchise - the WaiBOP to Hamilton Wanderers precedent has me wondering whether Waitakere City and/or Bay Olympic will be looking to go it alone.
Auckland and Waikato peeps!
Any suggestions for charities or clubs to donate some memberships too, where the people would be likely to go to the games in the North half of the Island?
Also Matt is arranging for some one off Welly tickets to be donated to good causes too.
If you're a bit better off than most drop a couple of $$ in here: https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/phoenixnorthernmem...
Cheers!
anyone have any idea which of these is correct?
New Zealand Football:
Tasman United 1 (Alex Ridsdale 65’) Waitakere United 3 (Jake Butler 1’, 11’, 53’)
SSP Highlights Show:
Tasman United 1 (Alex Ridsdale 53’) Waitakere United 3 (Jake Butler 1’, 11’, 65’)
Tasman United Twitter Timeline:
Tasman United 1 (Alex Ridsdale 65’) Waitakere United 3 (Jake Butler 1’, 11’, 83’)
I'm guessing it's the last one, as Gannon was penalised for the tackle for the third Waitakere goal, but he doesn't look to have come on until the 32nd minute of the second half.
The Highlights Show definitely showed Tasman pulling one back before Butler's third, which would mean NZF can't even get the order of goals correct for their reports!
you're expecting WAY too much ;-)
On the off chance that anyone is interested...(some positions/countries are best guesses)

No, but I wouldn't mind a copy of his NZ footballing historical records!
