Well, as you said, they are Aussies
I'm hoping we can win this one, but I have no idea about football in the UAE so I wouldn't know our chances.
Any probable squad line-up?
Arab countries' football teams are full of Brazilians, mostly of second division qulaity, though a few of the bigger stars play there. Al Ahli paid 6 Million bucks for Bare but I don't think he is playing is he??
Not fully sure how this (Mickey mouse) tournament works. If it ends a draw does it go through to extra-time?
cheers for that, I'll have a look.
AkCity FC At The FIFA World Club Cup
So the route appears to be Al Ahli the former UAE champs on the 9th,
then Atlante the Mexicans on the 12th, then FC Barcelona on the 16th
and after that the finals probably against Estudiantes de la Plata from Argentina.
Simple.
In all honesty, we might win the first game, on the basis of getting up to be best team on the day.
and yes this UAE club has just sacked their coach, to quote, they have "struggled in the domestic league this year"
Match 1, 9 December: Al Ahli FC v. Auckland City FC
Match 2, 11 December: TP Mazembe v. Pohang Steelers FC
Match 3, 12 December: Winner Match 1 v. Atlante FC
Match 4, 15 December: Winner Match 2 v. Estudiantes de La Plata
Match 5, 16 December: Winner Match 3 v. FC Barcelona
Match 6, 16 December: Loser Match 2 v. Loser Match 3 (5th place match)
Match 7, 19 December: Loser Match 4 v. Loser Match 5 (3rd place match)
Match 8, 19 December: Winner Match 4 v. Winner Match 5
Match 2, 11 December: TP Mazembe v. Pohang Steelers FC

THEIR AUSSIES !!! and they agreed not too even if they won ....smart eh ?
AkCity v Waitak O-League, 1-1 HT.
Ak on the half hour, Brent Fisher 42min.
How many corners does ACFC need? They had a dozen.
Totori and Fisher really put the pressure on and do superb crosses, but aren't fed enough ball.
Spoonley is directing traffic at the back of AkCity.
Uhlmann is trying to play not clear and getting into trouble.

Terrible decision by Jamie Cross to send Adam Dickinson off. He let Totori off with an elbow to Vicelich's head and let a two-footed lunge by Fisher on Uhlmann go, but then sends Dickinson off for winning the ball in a challenge bcause he's got his studs up.
The decision itself wasn't so bad, but the fact that he wasn't consistent is the annoying part - he was at his officious worst. Still, at least Waitak cannae beat us with ten men.
You're right re: Greg, edward I - not his best game.
Everton FC - you obviously don't know anything about the tournament. City probably have the best chance of any NZ team of getting a result at the tournament.

The decision by Jamie Cross to send off Dickinson is nearly as bad as the decision to appoint him to refferee this fixture. That was a clearly well won tackle, went in hard like you should, and of course studs may have been showing but you show me any tackle in the world where by the tackler points his toes to the ground!! give me a break!! Cross just wanted a rest...clearly over weight not a good look for NZ Refferes.
Cnut i agree re Greg...been out of sorts last couple of games, hopefully he will be ok for World Club, but the three others around him doing well so Greg will be ok. Spoonley gives me the sh*ts..interesting to see who plays in goal. Great goal by Chadwick!!
C'mon City!

I look forward to watching this on TV. My son went and watched and said that the Dickerson tackle was an absolute shocker. At least the replay will show if its 1-eyed bleating or justified.
Edit: Sorry Dickinson

was your son in favour of getting bullrush banned in schools too? it was a very soft dismissal!! Like many at the game i still cant get over the decision!! Hope Adam can play in World Club game!
Considering you've had egg on your face already this week, I'll wait to see it on TV before I take your verdict.
Did you see the ref stop Totori after 20 minutes and say "I've already given you two warnings, two" and Ben just smiled. Vicelich looked like he had concussion.
That tackle was an absolute shocker. Did he think he was trying to knock down 10 pins the way he went sliding in there? How can you possible defend that as a bad decision, a well won tackle etc.
That had shades of Kruse v Bertos all over it. The players didn't moan, Posa accepted and all the major papers didn't mention it anymore than he was sent off. As for the consistency decision, I couldn't see any elbow to Vicelich's head but that was probably due to poor camera work. Not to say it didn't happen but it certainly wasn't obvious. Take the eye patches off lads. Nothing to crack on at the ref about. You guys got the draw because you failed to slot the numerous corners in the first half
On another note, Jeremy Christie may well be the best player in that league. What a transformation from being a crude tackler into a distributing midfielder.

Have to agree on Christie being most improved player, consistency of distribution and through put to Ben, Fisher . Spoonley did well to keep it out. I reckon with some extra conditioning/strengthening Christie could return to the A-League.
As for Spoonley, good technically but thought he came out too early a few times which means either he panicked or the backs gave him cause for concern.

Jeff your an absolute fanny. So you and you son must sit round the television and watch the premier league and jump up at the tele whenever a tackle goes in and wonder how its not a sending off...only in nz is dickinsons tackle even a free kick! hes even got to the ball first and cleanly gone through the ball! take your skirt off and stop dressing in one yourself!!
Also do any NZ coaching staff go and watch Nzfc games anymore? because if they did i am sure Arron Scott would not be playing international football. He is dibolicle!!
Thought the scum deserved more points but thats football.

Well you've lost your entire credibility with the line "hes even got to the ball first and cleanly gone through the ball"
You should save that one for April Fools day. You might even get someone to fall for it.

To clarify my point Jeff, I thought the card wasn't a good decision because there was no consistency in his decision-making. Totori didn't even get a card when he deserved a straight red for his elbow on Vicelich and should have had a yellow for a professional foul not much later. Dickinson may have deserved a straight red, but not when a much worse (and cynical) "challenge" has been let go. In retrospect, calling it "terrible" is a little unfair on Jamie, because there is obviously an element of human error - I was just a little frustrated that Totori got away with the elbow.
I agree with you re: Christie - he impressed me at Kiwitea Street last week as well.
Hear it here - try spellcheck before you post next time

I've got the game here one MySky. What time was the elbow roughly? To me the Dickinson tackle was the worst of the game by a mile.
Mate i dont have time to spell check im old, technology isnt my strength.
Im not concerned over the totori incident.
And Jeff i have my sky too mate and ive slowed it down and so have many others ive spoken too, clearly shows Dickinson going in hard and agressivley (like you should) and cleanly winning the ball. Looks like we wont agree on this but what do you want next? No tackling in football and a rule by where you can only turn over possesion if you intercept a pass? f*CK ME MATE GIVE ME A BREAK!! Football is turning into a gay sport in this country!

The elbow was pretty early on in the game - pretty much the first header of the match. I was standing in the corner where it happened and it was pretty blatant. Even the Waitak fans next to us reckoned Totori dodged a bullet by not getting pulled up.
will this be shown on Sky?

2-1 over a second division side last night. Up 2-0 at half time and no Vicelich either. Have to be satisfied with that.

Kicks off in 15mins for those interested.
al ahli are from egypt aren't they, not they gulf, and are pretty sharp (although in a rough patch of form)
anywhere we can follow this on the internet? I need text updates, not radio or pictures.
That fifa match cast is a bit average.
cheers for that, I'll have a look.
Why don't the guardian do the minute by minutes for these games?
10 gone quiet start. Plenty possesion for Al Ahly. No real chances. Auck will be happy.

Hmmmmm.... i wonder.
Great chance for Auckland. Dickinson. Good save by the keeper.
1-0 Auckland at half time. 44th minute goal to Dickinson. Nice run and cross down the right. Even match.
